Tiered Link Building

There is a very old tutorial about Tiered link building this on youtube by Matthew Woodword. Does this still work? Is it worth following in 2018? Not promoting him.. just trying to see if it holds good in 2018. If not are there any good resources worth reading / following up now?

Tired link-building working fine i don't know matthew woodword tutorial he is teaching in his video.

I always build tier 1 manually with high authority links only
 
Does you mean authority site is pbn or web 2.0

Any one who can point to a good resource which has shown proven results.. i also explored PBN's but again lot of confusion out there..
 
Yes it is work nowadays also. Build Strong Tier 1 Links like Guest post,PBN,Editorial links also build some manual submissions Tier 2 links.
 
I would say that the tutorial is outdated if you follow everything as shown.

I wouldn't point GSA SER links if they are not pre-filtered and i know the quality of the platforms in advance to tier 1 links, let alone build tier 1 links with it. You are better off with going for manual tier 1 links or build them carefully with a tool you have explored first hand - say RankerX (automatic), Autofill Magic (semi-manual) and of course throw in some good PBN links to the mix, then continue your tier 2 again with RankerX and after that you can finish off with some nice GSA SER blast - contextual and non-contextual and add in other non-contextual links as well - Xrumer, ScrapeBox, etc.

This will do the job for easy/medium competitive keywords without you having to code/build tools yourself for link building purposes.
 
In my experience tiered link building is losing more and more of its value, especially for really compeittive keywords. Content and relevancy are much more important. Blasting lower tier links, such as blog comments and social bookmarks will do next to nothing to power you "tier 1" links. Increasinsgly, as you need to build Tier 1 links manually and make sure they are high quality, you also need to build tier 2 links manually and aim for high quality links. Just my experience

Don't know about the tutorial, Does tier link building still work?
Yes if you follow the steps accordingly and perfectly. Anything in the SEO done perfectly by the standard still works but as answered above most of the tier 2 and tier 3 standards are not effective much in the era of quality work & standards.

Let me share some of my knowledge about Tier Building with you-
First Tier contains - High quality content sharing, making backlinks on High PR sites and search engine submissions.

Second Tier contains - Links on relevant category sites like making blogs and posting on same category forums. For example if your website's category is women fashion shopping then you must post on relevant same categorized sites like women fashion, latest trends on women fashion. Blog commenting also play a major!

And the Third Tier contains - Quantity links, In this you have to post more and must increase the number of backlinks you are making. Syndication of articles, Web 2.0 and social profile links are examples.

Yes I think this is a good approach. Keep the quality high and avoid the blog comments and forum crap
