    Brief Background
So I've dabbled in SEO on and off for a good five or six years now. Unfortunately though, for most of which I was battling quite severe anxiety and mental health issues. I had my best success during this period, earning around $5000 from a site I had which had landing pages to CPA offers. That niche is long gone now though unfortunately, so not one I can revisit. I could have made more too, but a combination of naivety (I don't need to do anything, it'll stay at #1....oh hello Penguin...) and my above issues saw it die off pretty quickly.

After that happened, I got down on myself and pretty much gave up and fell out of love with the game. I did briefly try and resume my work last year and was making progress, but other personal issues got in the way and it fell by the way-side again.

    The Present
Fast forward a few years and I'm in a really good place. I feel like I'm finally ready to crack this SEO lark and start making some regular money from my websites.

I've been working on a project since late May which is coming along nicely. It's an affiliate site on a brand new domain. I'm currently trying to link up with a website to promote their products but they want to see more traffic first, which is fair enough. If that doesn't come to fruition, it'll be Amazon, so there is a Plan B.

The website is broken up into five 'main' pillar articles, with supporting articles under those. I'm outsourcing 90% of my content.

As you can see, my rankings for my main articles and money keywords are moving up nicely and bouncing around. I'm in the 20's and 30's for a ton of organic keywords too so Google seems to be liking how the website has started.

Off-Page SEO work began at the start of July and I plan to continously build links and drip feed social signals each month. Also working on boosting up my social media pages currently.

Hopefully as the thread title says 'this is the one'! Then I can scale up with more sites. The primary aim is to make this website the absolute authority in my niche. Looking at the top 10 of the money keywords I want to rank for, I think I can do this with time, patience and a healthy mental attitude!

And, your support. ;) Hopefully I can help others through my journey. Let's do this!!

    Progress Update

    Overview
Things are continuing to progress well. As it's a brand new domain, things will naturally be slower than they could have been. I just came across such a brandable domain name that I just felt, in the long run, I could really build something with it, so I took the plunge and went down the new domain route.

GSC is picking up a ton of my backlinks which is good news. My total clicks, impressions and average position all continue to rise week by week. Ahrefs is a lot slower in finding the links. The site will be three months old on the 19th.

    Earnings
    $0.00

Nothing to report here yet as I'm not yet linked up with my desired product creator. I'm cool with having no affiliate links for now. The affiliate network my product creator is linked into wanted to see more traffic first which is fine, think I mentioned that in my first post. Obviously I want to start earning ASAP but I'm relaxed about it. I'd rather get in with this merchant than Amazon.

    Traffic
    Averaging 50 U/V's a day right now.

    Tasks

    Site Speed
I've been working on maximising the speed of the website to get it as quick as I can.

Sorted. I can still improve it further by optimising some of my images which I'll work on this week.

    Content
I added a new 1000+ word review article on Friday and have another in progress to add tomorrow or Wednesday. Just going to maintain a flow of content. I outsource my review content as I'm not very confident on writing a knowledgable review on these products, but I'm handling the informational articles myself, adding one a week, sometimes two, just to balance things out.

I actually woke up this morning to some comments on some articles, thanking me for the information and some questions too. That felt good!

    Off Page SEO
My latest package has been completed and I've now built links towards all of my key inner pages, with a good ranking response so far. My main money page keywords all seem to be sticking around the 20-25 position at the moment. I have some serious authority links in progress/trying to get indexed so I'm hopeful they'll give me a shove up into the #10-#20 positions and ideally beyond!

Some of my review articles are actually in the top 10 for '*product* review' which is nice and in the #20's for the product name itself! I actually need to check the search volumes for those keywords... *makes note*. Probably below 100 but they all add up.

    Social
I've slacked on this a little bit. It'll be difficult to build up a general following by just focusing on the website content itself so I'm going to mix in some memes, photos and videos from the niche itself to hopefully acquire some followers and social traffic.

Would I have a problem if I took say, 'funny video' from Youtube and uploaded it to the Facebook Page? I'm not entirely knowledgable on this sort of thing. Any help there would be appreciated.

The plan is to be say, 70% memes/photos/videos, 20% my informational articles and 10% money page posts, with a bit of tweaking possibly. I'll likely sink some money into FB ads to build up a Facebook Page/Group and cross-promote with Insta/Twitter.

    Summary
So yeah, things are progressing. Time is a killer, I/we all wish it was quicker, but I feel like my authority is growing and Google is liking my work. I will update weekly unless there's major developments. :)

Hello! A very detailed journey, I wish you good luck!

I make sites too (for AdSense) but I want to try Amazon soon.

I have a question, how do you order articles? I mean, how many words are in your main pillar review articles? Do you provide the writer with a detailed plan of the article, with headings\subheadings? How much do you pay writers? Any advice where to find good writers? Thank you)

Looks promising. I like the way you update the progress. Many can learn from it.

I'm also building an authority site which I created in may. I'm planning to start a journey thread if the things go well.

A question. Are you sure it's a new domain? Have you checked the web archive? I'm asking because there is no chance to rank higher in such little timeframe with new domain. Maybe it was registered before and indexed as well but hadn't backlinks so you think it's new. My domain was registered and indexed before, but first I chose the domain name which was amazing(I skipped the boring google sandbox with domain name I liked).

    Good luck!

My main keyword pages are all 2000+ words, heading towards 3000. If I can think of any more relevant information I can add, I do so. I'd ideally like them to be in the 3000-3500 range. My main competitors article on my top targeted keyword is 3400 or so, so I'd like to match that and provide a better article too, which I'm confident I will.

I have a preferred writer from the marketplace, although I've used 3 or 4 from BHW and all have provided good work! Native English is a must, in my opinion, especially for pillar articles. I send him the product, a url to the product, and let him write freely to be honest, and then if necessary I will tweak the article as I post it to add in some LSI's etc. I pay $3 per 100 words to my current writer. Hope this helps you. :)

Thanks for the feedback! I'd love to help out others like me.

Well the web archive 100% has no record of the domain, so I believe so! Unless there's a better way to tell? I mean, it has nearly been three months, my content went up for my pillar keywords immediately, I think I was indexed within 24 hours, so...? Maybe I've just done everything right in Google's eyes? Hopefully that's the case!

Check whois.domaintools.com to see if there are any domain drops. If there are, then it has been registered before.

That means it's a brand new domain. All good. My last site started ranking on page 2 for a 4,400 MS keyword in just two months, so it's not unusual for a new site to do well within a short period of time.

Excellent, must be doing something right! I’ve been meticulous with every aspect of this project so I’m glad it’s started well, hopefully it continues that way.

Good luck on your journey! Looks like you are making some good progress with rankings and getting impressions etc.

Is it not worth placing some Amazon links in your top viewed articles, at least you may get some money rolling in before you join your preferred programs?

Yes, I think you're right, especially as I do have 40-50 UV's coming in each day at the moment and with a potential long wait until I achieve their traffic targets. I'll look to implement this over the weekend and see how it goes. Bigger update coming next week!

    Progress Update

    Overview

Things are continuing to move forward with an upward trajectory, albeit slowly. The site was three months old yesterday so I think it's done well for it's age. Clicks, impressions, average position and traffic are all rising.

More backlinks are being picked up in GSC and Ahrefs and 800+ new organic keywords.

    Earnings
    [IMG]

I switched all my links over to Amazon on Thursday or Friday. Must have been Friday looking at that. No conversions yet but at least the clicks are coming in. I'm using @jamie3000's Amazon Link Checker tool (AMZLinkChecker.com) to monitor my links for any out of stock items, unavailable items, 404's etc. Looks like a really useful tool so far, thanks for contacting me about it man! :)

    Traffic
    [IMG]
Moving in the right direction, 26.8% more visitors in the last week. I'm not entirely sure what an ideal figure for bounce rate is for affiliate websites? At least it's coming down slightly although it seems fairly high right now. One to work on.

    Rankings
    [IMG]

Keywords are just bouncing around all over the place at the moment, although one has crept into the #10's. I just check these sporadically really, just too early to expect major gains.

    Site Speed
GTMetrix doesn't seem to be working right now, but I've improved the Pagespeed score to 98% from 92%, Fully Loaded Time is now under 2 seconds and Total Page size has halved from 0.99mb. Can't get it much better than that so I'll consider that complete!

    Content
Added a couple more review articles to the site, around 1300 words each. Continuing to outsource those. I've got a list of informational articles to work my way through starting this week.

    Off Page SEO
Currently trying to get a DA 98 D0follow backlink from Amazon indexed, with some PBN links also in progress. I'm also trying out @MisterF and @WebMinati 's new service which look like it could be good.

I'm also planning to see if I can pinch any of my competitors backlinks over the weekend. I'll be using Ahrefs to go down their lists and see what I can do there.

    Social
Still haven't touched this. I'm an introvert and unsociable so Social Media is not a strong point! Lol. It's also not really a major priority right now. I want to focus my budget and efforts on ranking organically first.

    Summary
So yeah! Things are moving in the right direction. Would be nice to get a few conversions from the Amazon clicks this week. The next week will see more content added and hopefully some of my more powerful links picked up and taking effect.

Awesome journey mate :) will follow it for sure.

The progress is awesome for 3 months!

Whenever you get pbns & niche inserts (in a large quantity).

You should use a non spammy press release around the time. (Cision, routers and other stuff)

That way you get the perfect opportunity to build links as you will receive nofollows from authority sites and links by real reporters.

    Couple these things.

You will get awesome increase in rankings & traffic.

That's what I do these days. I have listed this on my journey threads as well :)
