Would like to share my own personal experience and maybe get your opinion.
Sorry for the log post, but I have to describe the situation before asking for your opinion.
By installing Search Term Tagging 9 months ago on a 2 years old blog, I managed to get from 70 uniques a day to 7000 a day.
I was using STT, including the 3 widgets , set up to 30 searches and 10 in the widgets as links.
The increase in traffic was gradual till it reached these 7000 daily visitors.
The blog had hybrid content - a mixture of about 40% original content and the rest coming from various auto posting sources.
A couple of weeks ago it got de-indexed.
Have to add that I also ran a couple of small/moderate AMR blasts for the blog in the past couple of months... and that I had Web Traffic Genius Pro installed as well, sending out RSS for each post made to a bunch of RSS aggregating sites.
I figured the blog got penalized for keyword stuffing (with the list of search terms under each post and the search terms in the widget areas) and since I do now want to risk my other blogs, that also have STT on them, I reduced the numbers on the plugin's set up drastically.
Obviously traffic to them had decreased... so did their revenue.
For example, another blog I have has about 300 pages of content.
All 100% original quality content.
It shows appx 90,000 indexed pages after having STT installed on it for 9 months (it is 1.5 years old).
(BTW, A blog with 300 pages that is indexed for 90,000 search terms can not possibly have relevant content for each search term it is indexed for... so some if not most of these terms lead to a 404 page on the blog. That can not be good for the blogs ranking in the longer term, I guess...)
That blog got to nearly 4000 daily visitors and by reducing number of searches on STT and removing 2 of the 3 widgets it seems to have reduced to about 2000 daily visitors only. (but it is too early to say. It has only been a few days)
At present I am looking for the optimal set up to that plugin.
To use it's ability without risking he blogs.
Would like your opinion on keeping my blogs on the safe side while enjoying the increased traffic STT is able to get.
Did any of you find the formula to use this plugin and still stay under radar?
Which number of searches are you using?
With or without adding the search terms under the posts?
With or without the widgets?
Which widgets?
Set to act as links to search?
It is a question about fine tuning the powers of this plugin...
What do you think?
