Thinking on creating a candies blog. Good idea?

Well i love candies ALOT not only general candies but candies from everywhere. Like from Japan or from Mexico (btw am from Puerto Rico but living in the U.S.). So i got this idea on creating a blog talking about these different candies.

To me it seems like ideas and reviews about candies will never run out. Also there really aren't many candy blogs that talks about candies across the world.

Is this a good topic to blog about?

I do intend on making money from this website.

Also any tips would help

If you love it, do it.
If you're passionate about it, and you work hard at it, the money will come. But because this isn't a micro niche site about some topic you don't give a shit about, the passion and the love for the topic will come first, then the money.

you could sell candies in bulk -- nobody is going to buy one candy bar online.

Thanks for the inspirations. But i did some more research and i found a site just like my idea. It has everything.

OK, it makes a great interest-blog... but if you're doing it to make money.... is there any particular way you intend to make money off of that?

It seems like you'll need a LOT of traffic to make that profitable because there aren't a lot of options. There is adsense and there is amazon... that is all I can think of right now.

... of course there is a website like this... there are lots of websites like this, this isn't exactly the most original idea in the world. But that doesn't mean that you can't do it.

Also, following your dreams/passion = money automatically coming in is a lie. Money doesn't instantly follow unless your passion is being amazing at golf. Some passions don't pay; ask 99% of artists.

Yea you right. I just got to look for ways to make my blog different than others.

success is dictated not by the idea itself, but by execution.

What about candies made from hemp?

It all boils down to one thing - Will you keep it going? If you love the topic and have a passion for it, then I think you would keep posting.

If you keep posting like every other day, your blog will be really popular.

Don't think and just do If you are truly passionate about it, readers will be able to tell.

Wowww I liked the idea, go ahead because thats your interest and sounds interesting to others too... All the best. Don't forget to give images of every candy you talk about and also if possible post their recipes too. That will really generate traffic.

At the end of the day, MONEY is the big question. I think you like money more than candy.

Will it make money?

Do some keyword research. To make money from just one blog (rent or mortgage paying money, I mean) you will need a lot of traffic and, it goes without saying, a way of converting that traffic into money.

I can't tell you how many websites I've setup that I was passionate about but made little money. So I hope you won't make the same mistake. Nothing worse than diving into something full steam ahead and making a pittance when you could have made thousands by doing something else.

Either way, you still get to eat candy. I love it, too!

Please don't quote me on this, because it is merely a matter of opinion, but I feel that you can be successful with this idea. That of course depends on your own personal definition of successful. I don't think you'd want to start a candy blog to make a cool million per year (though it would be awesome if that happened!) You said it yourself- this is a topic you're passionate about and for THAT reason I know it would be an incredible blog. Much better than a topic picked at random based on its' profitability... this is something you know and care about.

In case that answer was corny, I also think that candy is a great idea from the marketing POV. I can certainly see Facebook and especially Pinterest being your best friends. Selling unique/rare/hard to find candy... great opportunities. I remember seeing a sucker once that was apple flavored and had a real centipede in it. Disgusting, I know, but it's an example of the oddity that a person might expect to find on a candy focused blog. You could even use an Amazon affiliate account and sell candy products that way... less work on your part.

Shoot, I'm also thinking about those Kinder Eggs. As far as I know, you have to buy those online if you want one (in the States) and there's an interesting story about why... but I'll let you tell it on your blog. Would love the link when it's live, because if nothing else it is worth your best effort. Right?

Upon further consideration, the thing to do is to build up traffic and sell ad space.

Interesting idea But do research well about your niche - which age groups you would be targeting and are they willing to spend money. Obviously everyone loves candy and are willing to buy given they are relatively cheap but think about what sets apart your blog from the daily candy they buy offline.
