Thinking of hosting 25 sites on one server.

I would get a vps for that but if you are not sure don't buy it

There are 2 things to consider. First : Are they all white hat? You're not planning on making this a PBN are you? If they're all clean and white hat, there's no problem SEOwise.

Second thing : if those are high traffic blogs, this may knock your server out. Especially if you hit viral jackpot or get to social media front pages, it'll grind your server to a halt.

All white hat and I expect about 3 to 5K visits per month per site.
No PBN of all that black hat technique.

Thanks.

yeh but if on shared hosting, then how can I be sure that the IP I am on is not going to be banned by google?
I rather pay more to be sure that my sites get ranked and stay ranked and not that on one day all my sites will be gone because I chose shared hosting. Also, it would be nice if all the sites would have their own IP's or so of that is possible at all.
What is your website so I can check the plans?

Thanks.

Yo you'd have to get super lucky to not get indexed in Google just because of spammy neighbors on a shared hosting. Imagine CloudFlare or GoDaddy hosting thousands of sites on a single IP - big G doesn't do give a shit ya dig.

To answer your question yes that server would host the 25 sites with no issue. If you are trying to save on budget then you might look at a host for a reseller hosting plan. That could be a starting point plus it would be managed so if you have issues they would be there to help.

There is no correct answer for that unless you mention what kind of Wordpress sites you are planning to host and how much resources each of your sites is going to consume. If they are normal content sites with not a lot of traffic on each of them then sure, that configuration is going to workout best for you.

Thank you all for the honest answers.
I have decided to go with shark because of their attitude in connection with DMCA disputes. They seem to puke on DMCA so I like the idea.
will host 23 wordpress sites on a VPS and will request additional IP's.

This is what I have in mind.

3 vCores
4GB RAM
50GB Disk Space
1 IPv4 Address
5TB Monthly Bandwidth
100Mbit Port

Since the sites will have max 5K visitors per month I expect this server to be able to handle the requests without any issue.

Thanks again for all your help.

Depending on your budget.... Standard wordpress is pretty light and normal servers around that spec will handle 1000's of low traffic sites in that nature.

I don't like spending extra money where it is not needed (and we do not know the price you are quoted for this dedi) so I would be looking to split my sites over 2 or 3 VPS with lower specs (and lower cost).

This gives me some redundancy so if the server crashes only some of my sites go down... :) Or if the server gets hacked etc... A touch little more management and setup but better in long term :)

You guys are throwing out ridiculous specs. A simple 1GB VPS from DigitalOcean can easily host more than 25 websites.. so you don't need a dedi at all.
Or if you are interested in spending money, get yourself 8 x 1TB SSD RAID10 (hardware), Dual E5-2630v3 and 256GB ECC RAM behind 10Gbps. It should host at least 30 websites.

If your budget is low than reseller account will be best but if you have some budget than Best is to get vps.

The storage space might be a bit low for 25 Wordpress websites. For the rest, the VPS specs should work well.

I'm using a single VPS that is way too small for any real traffic to host a dozen sites at the moment. But the difference is, when a site goes live I move it to an individual VPS that is scalable without downtime. Perfect solution for building websites on a fast server without a high hosting bill. When a site goes live I expect it to start funding itself within six months, meaning no worrying about the hosting bill even after moving it to its own VPS.

So yes, that server can handle the sites with the amount of traffic you mentioned (just make sure not to build a PBN on a single server...), but when you start getting more traffic it can get run over pretty badly and fast.

I host 34 WP sites, averaging 2,000 page views each a day on a server with lower specs than what you've suggested!

I think your server will be fine!

(I do also use CloudFlare, which lowers the server load and increases page speed)

In todays worldit is not about if you can host it without problems. If you have problems on server your whole business is down and could never ever return on his track. (depending on the buisness you are in)

The real question is, how fast are you hosting your websites.

use www.gtmetrix.com and see your speed. You can ignore grades sicne that does not matter if your page opening is high.

Everything above 5 seconds need to be checked out.

In the ops server i noticed he will have 3 virtual cores, in other words if his neigborn steps up on CPU his page opening will increase to over 10 seconds or even more.

I would avoid any VPS where you share resources with others. So look at real VPS with dedicated resources. XEN or kvmz virtualization.

Also if you like to hire me i can do this for you in nginx. You buy server on digitalocean and i set up for you for small fee. You will pay less and your site will be extremely fast, especialy if you use large pictures.

I think he said he wanted multiple ip addresses. If thats the case digital ocean wouldnt work as they require multiple ip justification which just to host 25 websites wont work : ( and also he could use a script like centminmod which is free and sets up an LEMP stack, which i highly recommend to an of my clients going unmanaged

Wow overwhelmed with valuable information. Thanks for all the replies.

The reason I would need different IP's is because I dont want Google to think I am running a PBN. this is just an extra security that I want to build in. The WP sites them self will be MNS and will pay a company to do SEO on them. It would be such a waste of money if Google would think that it is all a part of PBN.

I also like the idea of Crashed to spread the sites over smaller specs VPS for redundancy and other benefits.
So I would need 5 VPS with lower specs then.

Anybody know of any good one suitable for this? You can throw or PM me your referral link as well I don't mind since I would need hosting anyway. That way I can help a BHWer :-)

Thanks all again.

you better use different hostings! try such companies as hostnine and panda
