Thinking about starting a Citation service

I was recently helping a friend out with getting citations for G+/places/local/whatever they're calling it now. Mostly just submitting business name/address/phone number/website/social media links to various local and industry business directories.

It gave me an idea for a service, and after doing some looking around it looks like there is a bit of demand for a service handling these sorts of things. So, I thought I'd start a post to gauge the interest in this, and to get some information on what people would like out of this kind of thing.

I'm looking for some answers to the following questions:

How much time do you spend doing citation work for a single site?
Monthly/weekly/whatever.

What would you be looking for in a citation or g+ places service?
How many citations? What sort of citations? (Web 2.0/Business Directories/etc)

What else would you be looking to outsource in this area?
Google reviews? Yelp reviews? Anything else?

How much would you be willing to pay?
Would you prefer a monthly subscription or fixed one-time gig fee?

Any other ideas or comments are greatly welcomed.

Yes the citation services are in demand. Nobody normally does them. You can make a good client data base if you start providing it..as even at Place like BHW ..i dont see people providing these services.

They require quite a work..but you would reap the benefit if you start early..

Not saying it can't work for you, but I know others here have offered that service (I believe it was JStover77 that had what looked like a REALLY GOOD local seo gig) and did NOT get much business at all. I'm sure you can get business for it if the price is good. Just be ready to promote it well outside of BHW.

From personal experience I can tell you that it's a WHOLE DIFFERENT WORLD dealing with clients vs your own work. Be prepared for anything and everything. Just a heads up for you.

Good luck,
Con
