Themeforest - Anyone successfully get a refund?

I recently purchased a theme, and I was very disappointed that it was very buggy, and just didnt work due to coding issues. There is no mention of the refund process on their website, so i contacted support. Nothing after 5 days, so i filed a dispute with paypal, just to start the process, and they immediately locked my account - losing the ability to access past downloads, make new purchases.

Anyone had similar experiences?

i had not similar but an experience where i purchased Ver 1 of a theme,when i was supposed to purchase Ver 2 of a theme.

I contacted themeforest -- after about 4-5 days, they contacted me and added the Ver 2 on the theme to my downloads for free.

So i would have said to contact themeforest and wait untill they responded before filing a dispute
 
I had an attempt once, and they asked me to send them proves, screens or something else. I decided to back off.

The problem is why they accept themes without doing a proper verification? Ok there are some guidelines but thats all. Plus all themes are packed with too many js files just to make it look better.

My guess is they will loose big time if their policy is not changed.
 
I though they are very careful about Customer & they only accept quality full products.
Seems they are not.

I think if they refund they will just credit your envato account, but thats just like a credit note, which isnt what i need really.

Its true.

Its really hard to get a refund from them.But usually they fix the bugs in the themes after a few updates.
 
If you contact them and put your case forward in a decent way they tend to refund okay.

As you can imagine they get plenty of scam artists so it's important to put together a decent account of why it's not working.

I got a refund a few months ago, was processed in 2 weeks.
 
Pretty dumb policy if you ask me. If a developer is throwing up junk and they sell it they should pull the money from the sellers account and refund you. If you are a scammer they could easily create an algo to prevent future refunds, not hard really.

Sounds ridiculous but throw up a ripoffreport or something, sucks for Themeforest but that policy is pointless. Sellers don't drive the business, customers do.
 
One of my friends had a hard luck. He purchased a theme for around $55. The theme didn't work and he didn't receive any refund
 
Always try and work things out with the developer via theme support before you take action!
 
I know someone who has had the same experience. What she did was that she contacted themeforest immediately and she told them about her concerns. She did not get a refund, but they offered her one of their services for free. I have been hearing a lot of themeforest complaints. Hopefully, they do something about it.
 
Just an quick update.

I got a full refund. But i had to go to paypal and escalate to a claim. I received no dialogue at all from themeforest, so that is what you must do. But downside is they freeze your account, so if you have any important downloads just download first before you open your paypal dispute.
 
if they don't refund, simply ask your CC company to do a chargeback and it will be done
 
I've had 2 refunds not from ThemeForest but from Envato, the parent. It does take a few days though. They seem an honorable company
 
Which is why I always use a 'free' copy of the theme first and then if it works for me, I pay the full price so that I get access to their support and full docs, etc.

just would like to say that their #1 selling Wordpress theme Avada is complete garbage. It is riddled with bugs, html/css errors, and is not at all SEO optimized.

It loads super slow and has over 1200 lines of javascript code on every page! code that should all be located in an external js file. thought this was basic knowledge? i mean, they insert javascript code for EVERY PLUGIN regardless whether you're using it or not - javascript for like 3 different sliders, woocommerce, and much more into EVERY page. all pages load super slow and have like 9:1 code to HTML ratio which is horrible for SEO
 
I once had a problem with them a while ago, but they actually refunded me in the credit which I had to use on their website. So...yeah there not a fan of refunds.
