There are two "deep web" networks. One is Tor, which has been highly publicized because of Silk Road. The other is I2P. Arguably I2P is more secure, and now it's probably a lot less monitored because of the Tor network crackdown and attention gained from the US government. I2P is a lot less active than Tor and a little harder to navigate, but you'll find the quality of content is a lot better. You should do a lot of research before you decide to join either of these networks, I2P is for more experienced people as they don't package a "secure" browser for you to work with. Disable JS and any other plugins you have installed, and be sure to have the latest up-to-date version of your browser-flavour.

You'll find a lot of what's out there isn't that great, however. If you want to learn something on the internet, it can be done in the "clearnet". "Deep web" is only good for anonymous, untraceable networks and hobbyists.

If anyone here is a bit more technically minded, do you know if they've looked at setting up "multiple virtual routers/nodes" for each person connected? Increasing the hops in between each client without increasing latency/network speed?

Yeah. Running the site from the US was pretty dumb. I mean you can never really be sure, doesn't matter what country you live in, but living with fake ID's in an appartment in the US with others doesn't really seem like the safest thing when you running a multi million dollar crime operation.
What really fucked him over were that law enforcments intercepted a mailing order with fake ID's... People will learn from his misstakes ofcourse and as far as I know Silkroad 2.0 is already ready to launch.

Yeah there were a lot of f&*k ups from the start. But then again looking at the website you could tell it wasn't setup by someone with a lot of knowledge - he basically learned as he went and got lucky as it was the first 'public' market. Once it gained media attention he should've burnt everything he owned and gone nomad.

I don't use that much anymore, i once been to dumb to search porn in there thinking i'd have got some "extreme" stuff that would make me laugh like this kind of asian porn videos, but what i found really made me feel bad.

One thing to keep in mind is that they are making certain activities illegal that they cannot even define themselves. It's illegal because some underinformed dumbfuck at the FBI says it's illegal, and the retarded, compliant sheep on the jury would probably agree.

They should do IQ testing before allowing people to serve on juries. Force them to prove they have the intellectual capacity to understand the subtle concepts involved in the law. Like those retards on the Trayvon Martin jury, that thought that "stand your ground" was somehow involved in the case.

It's 2013. I think it's time that we can start talking openly about the hidden existence of the retarded in our society, and the social need we have to prevent them from power in certain decision making processes. Like determining whether or not you are guilty of a crime.

Anyone here want to volunteer to be tried by a jury of 12 people whose IQ is below 90?

So what did you use to buy off SR? It sounds me to like you're angry because they've taken away a site you use to purchase from.

Some people are so naive, no wonder they get scammed or get in shit situations and get caught.

1. In Iraq US snipers used to leave on the side of the road stuff that could have potentially been used to make IEDs. If a person reached and picked it up for whatever reason they'd shoot him under the excuse "he was carrying a IED component". They didn't shot just insurgents, they literally placed "the cookies" undr their nose just to have an excuse to shot people down. Maybe those people wanted the thing for 1000 other reasons other than build an IED. What makes you think the feds dont use the deep web in similar ways. I mean the supposition "if they order my fake drug service, they'd order any drug service, hence they're guilty" is perfectly valid for them.

2. Ordering shit online is not that big of a problem but you actually have to give an address to mail that shit to yourself and thats where you got caught - just read about the dumb Australian who sent himself a bag of pot from silk road to his home address.

3. TOR is anonymous if and only if 2 of the 3 exploit points (sender, transit and receiver) are not controlled by the same person. Considering that number of TOR hosts is so small chances are quite high they're all controlled by feds.

4. NSA broke SSL since like ages ago and very likely most public/open crypto systems. You think they didn't do that with TOR? Get real!

I personally don't use Tor.
The only Onion site I have ever browsed was the WikiLeaks Friends page a while back.
I just never felt safe using it to hide my IP. I guess as what was said above I wouldn't trust
the security of Tor any more or less than I would when sending a text based email.

Point number 2 is BS, sorry. The smarter buyers learnt to use a drop address, which is an abandoned house. Also please take into account the amount of people who bought from that site. It's like downloading torrents, it's extremely rare to get done for it, but when someone does, they always make an example of that person to scare off less knowledgeable people. 'No guts No glory', is a good saying for this matter.

They didnt need to break it, as I understand they merely forced SSL CA (Certificate Authority) companies to handle them the private keys. So basically once you buy a SSL certificate your traffic is like an open book for US intelligence community.

Yeah but my point was that some people are in fact THAT dumb. The fact that law enforcement generally doesn't have the resources or gives a crap about those who order is not the same with being safe. If they'd want to catch you they would. All they have to do is tail you and invest resources in finding you. Statistically speaking you have chances to go through an airport with a bag of pot in your pocket without being caught. Would you risk aiming for that statistical chance?

Bottom line is law enforcement is a business. They're not there to protect the weak and crap like that. They're there to protect a mafia. It all comes down to drug wars, drug laws and the reason behind why laws are how they are. Hint: it's not to protect the general public but to maintain high price on drugs and high profitability.
