The Ultimate Amazon Thread Mark 2 - Q/A - Good/Bad

Can you share with everyone the type of set-up you made ? Article Site / Review Site / Mixed Site or some type of Store ?
How much Seo have you been doing ?
Is your traffic USA / UK / Other
Did you use anything from this thread ? or you just launched your own Sites and found your own online success ?

I hope you can answer a couple of questions - because I'm sure most people don't really want to hear me ramble on at this point.

I'm doing a mixed Informational/Review site.
I have done very little SEO. I've only built low quality links at this point. I'm going to be investing in some 500-600$ SEO services in the near future, so that will definitely increase my Amazon and Adsense income.
My traffic is USA/UK/Canada.
I did not use anything from this thread. I just launched my own site and found success.

I truly believe that Amazon is the easiest way to make money online, it's really simple! Make a review, have a call to action link and voila, money in the bank!

I will share my sites I started based on this thread

Site 1
EMD.org domain name
1300 Exact local monthly search
Article/Review site
Age - About 10 days
Content - 11 pages of content plus contact us/ privacy policy
SEO - 2 manual web 2.0 articles
Serpbook rank - 45

Site 2
EMD.net domain name
2400 Exact local monthly search
Article/Review site
Age - About 7 days
Content - 3 pages of content plus contact us/ privacy policy
SEO - None
Serpbook rank - Not rated

Both sites are dancing around in google like crazy right now. I am still adding more at least 10 more pages of content to site #2 and a few more to site #1 in the next few weeks. Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for sharing. what 2.0 websites are you using ? and did you write an original article, or did copy and past an article already published in your website ?

thanks

Question :

Did anyone received April earning?

Never got paid up to now and my payment method is by check.

Cheers

They will send it by the end of June. Amazon has a 2-month based payment policy. For example, I received my check for March earnings by the 2nd week of June, since it cost 2 weeks for the check to arrive at my place.

Thought you must have known it already?

I ordered Hostgator Hosting Shared for the new Site we will build via this thread ... with a coupon .. and got an email from a Hostgator Rep offering another 20% monthly discount on top of that .. so not that its a huge expense or anything .. but appreciated it anyway.

Haven't had Hostgator Hosting for about 2 years now - since I went to VPS then onto Dedicated with other companies.

They are on a blogger blog and a free wordpress blog. Both are unique articles

thanks. Just to make sure what you guys here at bhw mean by "unique": even if you have a unique article on your website, copying it into a web 2.0 page doesnot make it unique anymore, right ?

Right

Press Release
Manual Social Bookmarks
Submit Articles
PDF Submissions

Make some Social Profiles - Twitter/Facebook/Pinterest

SetUp Some Google Alerts for your keywords - and try to post on Sites it comes up with - with a link to your Site.

These can all be done manually with no software - just start slow - no need to rush on fresh sites

Can I ask a question. Do you think it is still okay to submit the same PDF or article to more than one document/article sharing sites?

Not too many.. maybe around 10 sites per unique PDF/article.

Hi Danny,

I did a search on the thread but don't think I found 2 of the 3 answers I was looking for. Please let me know if they have been covered and I will try again.

1 - Does word length matter? What I am doing right now is collecting 200 words reviews of 5 different products that belong in the same category. SEO wise, I think a review of each product on its own would be better, but it is very hard to make content that is over 200 words in this niche. What I am finding right now is people are obviously not going to scroll down and look at review #3, #4 and #5 (clicks are much lower). I also find that having quite a bit of text is bad user experience.

2 - If 200-300 word reviews were ok, would having just one affiliate link be recommended?

Thanks!

Hello, guys and specially to Danny for making this awesome thread as informative as it gets. Would like to ask how you diversify your anchor texts on making backlinks? And any samples? Thanks! :)

Content Length - I think its better to have various length sizes on the Site - and not just all 300 400 500 but have 1 1000 1 700 2 500 etc -- try to make it a little random.

you should place text links in the content so people can click those as well - and not rely on a button solely at the end ... always use custom buttons you will get better results than standard Amazon ones.

Anchor Text - I use tonnes of variations - Click Here Read More Find Out More HomePage Information Online Directory URL .. I mean honestly there is no limit to what you can do here to get nice variety.

I think the main point is still that with just a basic Seo Strategy / A Good User Friendly Site and Great Content you should rank Page 1 -- to stay there then you have to pay attention to building links and velocity ... so don't kill your sites in the first few months.

I've said it before and I'll say it again

there is a safer way to do Seo and then there's a more harmful way - if you go too fast you will get to page 1 and a few weeks later your site will drop off and it will be alot of work to get back there .. if you use the safer/slower method after a few months you will be page 1 and you will stick there.

the reason I see for this is that - most of the sites your competing against are not optimized for the keyword - they have some authority and are there by default -- so as your authority increases it becomes really tough for you to leave page 1 ...... but if you try to force the issue by spamming low quality backlinks - google sees this and any authority you have disappears and so do your rankings.

anyway I'm sure some people will get it and others won't -- that's the way it is in any business..... all the best today .. cheers.

I also see other BHW Members are starting their own Amazon Threads and Journeys .. I would encourage everyone to read/follow those as well as when your starting out trying to figure out how to get to your goal - maybe they can explain something a different way - that makes more sense to you than I can ... also I do things one way - maybe its better done differently so you can get some more ideas from them as well ... no matter what though - Amazon is work .... so just stick with it and keep working .. that's the best advice I could give anyone.

Denny. I want to add you in my skype.. I want to discuss few things. Can you please provide me your skype. I tried to pm you but your inbox is already full..

Thanks
Palwinder

I don't provide Skype Support and I'm swamped with Pm's ... really its best to ask questions in the thread and either myself or someone else will give you an answer .. there are alot of answers already here.

After being sick for 5 days I have plenty of my own work to do/catch-up on.

Hello I have another question please:

Which of those domains are easier to rank in high competition niche (or simply which one would you pick based on your experience):

The[niche]**** . com
[niche]-reviews . com
[niche]***** . com
*****[niche]**** . com
****[niche]***** . com

PS: [niche] is one word

Let's assume we're trying to rank for a 3 word keyword with 1000 broad monthly searches in high competition.

Please don't say "it depends" (I know that, i am asking for your best judgment given only the info provided here) and don't say "all of them" (either pick one or rank them from best to worse please)

the website will include reviews of products in the niche.

thanks a lot for your feedback.

** I personally don't own any Domains from the list above
** I don't compete in any High Competition Niches - as that's not how I personally do it... I only compete in areas I can win in.... and if I can't I get out.
** In this thread we never try to specify exact issues - because each person has to make their sites individual - otherwise everyone will have the same sites - and that is not a recipe for long term success.

If I had to pick one from the list I'd do the (Niche)ReviewGuide one - I think that sounds more neutral than the others -- have no idea whether it would be the best choice because I don't make sites as it sounds like you want to do it.

thanks a lot for your reply. I will keep what you said in mind.

This is just one website, and I am experimenting with different niches/keywords/domains to see which one will work for me best (as you always advise :))

From reading this thread i know you don't include "review" or "-" in your domain, so i was just asking for your general opinion.

Thanks a lot.

My personal view is that those that treat this like a business and take the time to learn how best to utilize the many ways you can structure your Site and make their sites unique to them - have alot better chance to be successful ...

if you just spend 20 minutes putting together a crappy site - buy a $5 logo from Fiverr and rip off someone else's youtube videos -- then that type of method is not going to be sustainable.

You have to remember Google has these updates that flow through - who's sole purpose is to try to weed out the low quality sites -- so trying to build sites that stay out of the way of those are the better way to spend your time/money.

Anyway give it a shot and let us know how it goes .. cheers
