The Ultimate Amazon Thread Mark 2 - Q/A - Good/Bad

Just wanted to add something that might be useful - danny and others have already discussed this before but has worked for me recently so i thought id share it again.

When making my site (lets say bestwidgets.com) i always wanted to add a best widget 2013 article.

The keyword software said it only got about 20 searches a month but because it was so easy to make and i wanted to beef out my site with content i added it anyway.

I took the top 3 slides (product pics) from hompage and added a few lines desciption to each below it with a link to the full review all in the article title best widgets 2013.

After a few months and on a site with virtually no seo ( 5 blog comments backlinks to whole site) this article ranks no 4 on 1st page for best widgets 2013 and no1 on 1st page for a little variation of this - it also doubled my monthly site visitors with just this one easy quick made article - if you can even call it an article.

The best thing is that my most expensive product wasn't getting any clicks through to amazon because it wasn't getting searched and my main kw for the site is way down in rankings because i haven't even done basic off page seo yet (pr/ad/social etc) - but now its my most clicked product on amazon all because i added this product to the top of the best widgets 2013 article page - it was a sort of round about way of getting exposure to a product that wasnt getting any clicks on its own.

Hope this helps someone.

I am going to start making my site more "commercial" because after checking analytics I see mtd I have around 1300 visits all of a sudden, so what that means of TOTAL traffic I get I am converting around 2% of that into sales (31 sales mtd) the site I work on for my full time gig gets no less than 5-6% conversions from visits but then we sell directly on our site so there is no going elsewhere but I am hoping to make it to 4% at least and see how that goes. I dont know how long it will take but I am going to focus more on product reviews and perhaps pick up a non amazon affiliate with a higher payout and see if I can supplement some sales that way too.

Again, this is more of a test/hobby thing for me so I would not expect a very fast report unless somehow I am inspired to really bust my hump but I will get around to it eventually.
I posted this almost 3 months ago and I DID say it would take a while for me to update.

Anyway my most recent article and the article on the 1st page of my site is linked to a non amazon affiliate. While the commission is higher 15% and the product is a few dollars more I made very few sales going a different direction. So where I was converting with Amazon at about 2% buyers from those that hopped over I was converting less than a half of 1% of buyers who went to the non Amazon site.

So I am going to get some more articles written and add Amazon links so those are the most prominent articles showing to my visitors. And yes it has hurt my Amazon sales too considering the 1st article is sending them somewhere else..

***EDIT**** I decided even before I received the new articles to change the links in the old article to AMAZON links and immediately made 2 sales yesterday. So the moral of the story is even with the same content switching my affiliate link to Amazon made all the difference in the world, people trust them and even though they may pay out a little less the volume of the sales will go up.

had quite a few extra sales 2 days ago - just waiting for yesterdays numbers to come up.

downloaded the Se Demon 7 day trial to see what that can do - although Im not sure how long I'll be sitting at the PC today .. probably a good chance for many people with limited budgets to check out what automation can do for you.

Someone asked me a question a while ago now - regarding orders why some take time to fill.

Well I found out yesterday when I ordered a wireless portable hard drive and a case .. it says its not shipping till next month or 4 weeks - even though I ordered directly from Amazon Warehouse

so I guess it depends on what stock they have ready to ship out.... normally I get it in 3-5 days -- so there is quite a delay on this order.

Some products have this info below the price:

"Usually ships within 3 to 5 weeks"

but that is the longest time I've ever noticed. And so far, those products mostly are from third party vendors. Indeed it is not normal if the product comes out from Amazon warehouse.

yeah I never saw it before either - but its just I need this particular one for the airplane and Ipad - the Seagate Wireless one

anyway says delivery middle of next month.

I tried the SE Demon demo - this morning - he has some work to do to make it as easy to use as UD - and I can't get it to stop crashing at the moment -- but when its working and you can add your own sites and some of the things are updated - it probably is a pretty good deal for $97

but its just not ready today to be used everyday -- not sure how long it will take him to update it.

Seagate Wireless Plus 1 TB Mobile Device Storage with Built-In Wi-Fi Streaming (STCK1000100)

if you look at it on Amazon it says its available for one day shipping if you pay for it -- but when you order it - its middle of next month ... LOL (selecting Amazon Option which is what is the default)

(I selected the free 5-7 day shipping option - which normally gets to me in 3)

Question :

Did anyone received April earning?

Never got paid up to now and my payment method is by check.

Cheers

Alert : AddMeFast

I've been a long time supporter of using AMF just to give you a little more Social Sharing etc without going over board.

So I just look through some of the accounts to check what sort of likes etc the thing is collecting.

Most of the Stuff is really junk .. no pictures / offensive names / porn type names / semi porn pictures // or the same account with no picture hammering your account daily.

Really seems they have no quality control whatsoever ... so make sure to really either - make it a small % of what you do - or keep a close eye on what your getting out of it.

Cheers.

Hey Danny.
So I noticed that you aim for Amazon.com sales only, and you do not use a Geo-IP localization plugin or anything. In cases where the product you are selling is available on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de as well, have you thought about putting up more affiliate links saying "UK surfers, click this link to go to Amazon.co.uk", etcetera. Have you tested this method? To me it feels like a bit of a waste of surfer clicks to cater to mainly target North-American surfers. But I also understand the benefit of not confusing the surfer with too many links to click on.

There are 100 opinions on that of course -- My Personal Number 1 Goal is the provide the Visitor with the best experience possible -- so I don't want to have a bunch of links all over the place pointing to various Amazon's.

The best Solution to the Problem would be to make an individual site for USA / Germany / UK and rank them for each place -- but for me I don't do this because I couldn't be bothered to be honest.

Go with what you think is best on this - if it doesn't work you can always change it.

I've sold a $1300 item with $90 commission that had to be delivred in 3 weeks. Now it's 4 weeks and still nothing. It will be bad if the buyer ask for a refund :s . Did anyone get such a case?

Where you are in the world is important, I'm an Affiliate of both Amazon.com and .co.uk but made the mistake of not checking in webmaster tools where my traffic was coming from.
I was targeting the US but all my visitors were from the UK, so not many sales.
However I went back through my sites which took a very long time to do and checked ever single link to see if the link localizer plugin was working correctly in several cases it wasn't taking my visitors to the correct page, hence no sales.

Instead I am now currently working on a strategy of adding the two different links to each post because I'm not a huge fan of these type of plugins.
Plus the more plugins you have the slower the load time of your blog.
It's a lot of work, but well worth the effort.

well it might say 3 weeks -- but its like my order on the wireless harddrive I mentioned a few posts ago ... Amazon says -- delivery sometime between July 14-July 28th ... so in my case the window is 4-6 weeks -- and that's coming though the Amazon Warehouse System...... never said this when I was placing my order.

Yeah I'm with you - I find the Plugins a far from Satisfactory solution to that issue -- there is no perfect answer I've seen anyway.

Hi, I like so much this thread. First of all sorry for my bad english!
I have 3 amazon affiliate website, I opened them 30 days ago and I'd like to know if the most important tips for you is submit articles in places like ezinearticles, or submit articles with software that you mentioned (Ubot studio, twitter money bot etc.)?
I have a mac system and all of that software, dont work with!

Press Release
Manual Social Bookmarks
Submit Articles
PDF Submissions

Make some Social Profiles - Twitter/Facebook/Pinterest

SetUp Some Google Alerts for your keywords - and try to post on Sites it comes up with - with a link to your Site.

These can all be done manually with no software - just start slow - no need to rush on fresh sites

Amazon is the F-ing bomb! I'm glad that I stuck with it. Orders are coming in daily now...I just love it when I get commission on things that are not even related to my website!

Can you share with everyone the type of set-up you made ? Article Site / Review Site / Mixed Site or some type of Store ?

Did you use anything from this thread ? or you just launched your own Sites and found your own online success ?
