We should all enjoy the cryptocurrency market while it lasts. It's just finally getting big enough to attract mainstream attention. That means it'll eventually be dominated by various governments - probably with Russia spearheading the way.

You can expect those that have the most to lose from the current system to do all they can to obstruct and regulate it in the future.

Russia is only interested in banning cryptocurrencies that aren't controlled by them.

Thing is, there is a TON about cryptocurrencies that are extremely attractive to nations that, shall we say, are a tiny bit more susceptible to getting sanctioned by the U.S/European Union than most.

When those nations start taking fuller advantage of it - and when hacking becomes more widespread to take over other networks to use them for coin farming - the US/EU is going to come down hard on it.

2017 is literally the first year where the people in real positions of authority or power, have even really heard of bitcoin. Which is hilarious since I remember thinking in 2014-2015 it was played out and too late to jump into mining it. I'd like to go back to myself then and kick my ass.
 
I have to say that i'm sure elon musk has recommended bitcoin for people in north korea as being one of the best use cases of it. For all other countries they will probably stick with USD. Since the USD international system is the first mover it is going to be hard to move it.

I have to say i am quite skeptical of the current btc price.

I'm pretty sure the original creation of bitcoin is more shady than we'll ever truly appreciate. And it was definitely a group of guys, not one person.
