The September 2022 core update (Here We Go Again!)

Look how fucked up SERPS are, we all know that the NUMBER 1 signal for Google searches is CENTROID of the search or location. Meaning when somebody type in Doctors Office in Seattle, they shouldn't get results from NY. This goes all the way down to the state and city level. If you're in Los Angeles and type Marijuana Dispensary You shouldn't get results in San Diego. I search CBD WHOLESALE NEVADA and boom my clients are number 1 and number 5 in When you search CBD Wholesale Las Vegas the CITY they are actually in they are POOF GONE> WTF!!

Yep, I'm starting to see some improvement over the last 5 days or so, great that others are seeing the same. I have been doing work on the technical side of the site, speeding it up, adding meta, sending some social signals. My gut is that even if i had just left things I would probably see this same improvement. My site was down about 70%/80% so a huge hit, though it is only 8 months old.

As I say it's just a gut feeling because in Nov/Dec 21 2 other blogs of mine lost 66% of traffic over about 4 weeks, then recovered over about 3 weeks, and then kept on increasing. This is following roughly the same pattern, but who knows.

However I'm still going to spend roughly half my time continuing to fix up this site and half on a brand new blog. I think I will have this hit blog fixed up by Christmas, I haven't even started the big task which is is to re-write/improve about 60 articles that I got from "writers" on upwork but which were just AI articles. Just put that down to experience I guess.

This update also hit websites that are not related about product reviews. I am pretty sure that few of the websites I own have not been hit by the core update. Pretty strange but I lost like 80% of the traffic at some websites. I doubt they will revert it back.

I saw on reddit people saying that on seoroundtable they were saying that a core update started on October 13th which would confirm what people are seeing on here.

Some stats on my site, best day was over 300 users on Aug 30th, then it dropped to 244 on Sept 12th which had me worried. Sept 13th was around 140 with the core update, but it didn't stop there! On Thurs Sept 29th it was 33 users, Fri 30th it was 27. So you are looking at around 80-90% drop.

I'm still waiting for data for yesterday Tues Oct 18th but I might get very close to 100 users. So from 27 to 100 users is a big improvement.

I have no idea if the work I put into the technical side helped or it was just coincidence. I still have about 60 articles that I need to rewrite which hopefully will also help.

Which Onsite updates you made? (beyond updating/rewriting your articles)

From 27 to 100 is not a big improvement. I am facing the same scenario and it jumped like that with different numbers. I doubt it will revert back to normal. Also, only some of the categories and pages got de-ranked. From top 5 to no found.
