This is the problem. No, you should never use the rep system to differentiate the scammers. Do you know how many people have been inflating their rep count, just to turn out as scammers? A gamed rep stat gives perceived legitimacy that is not deserved. It 's better to not give scammers that tool.

Recently I neg-repped someone for waving their dick around in the SEO forum instead of actually engaging the conversation and sharing something useful. I think it's worthy of neg rep. His response? He neg reps me for making a joke in the Lounge. That is abuse. Instead of starting a war, I PM'd him and told him it ends there, but that I would def neg rep him if he posted some dick waving again. I suspect he would have again neg repped me in return because that is obviously the kind of person he is.

I think rep can be useful but it can obviously be abused. I wish there were a better way to handle things than to remove it altogether, but I think this is a probably for the best.

I totally agree with this but all stats can be manipulated and all that will happen now is that people will try to garner more thanks and increase their post count to appear legitimate.

Aged BHW are being sold on some sites and the scammers will be looking to purchase and spend more on accounts with high thanks/posts.

As rep has now gone why not remove all stats?

There is NO way to tell if somebody is a scammer.







I would like somebody to confirm that it is/was the Jr VIP Skype group that is/was the alleged Rep Circle.
 
I feel like it kind of won't matter much. The only thing that will change is that people can't fight over neg rep. People will just use thanks in the same manner as positive rep. Maybe the neg rep option should have been taken away instead. Neg rep was unfair in a lot of ways and my goodness at the fights it caused.
 
I found it to be a useful way to see if someone that had a bunch of posts were actually useful of if they were just the guys that liked to say "thanks" and "just what I needed". At the same time I was seeing way to many people who simply disagreed with one another and had valid points on both sides using -rep to try to get people they disagreed with to shut up...

So as with all good things it got misused and abused so it was time to go away....

Now its time to find a way to abuse the thanks system... Lets see, if I only make one post ever and it gets 100 thanks do I get more respect that someone that has 2 posts and only has 101 thanks????

I think he knows his view isn't favored by the mods and does not want the ban hammer for voicing a perfectly sound opinion.

As for the rep, I still see no rule on the forum now, or previously.
 
I've noticed it just now. Can someone also give thanks to me. lol...The reputation might be a matter to anyone.
 
I think it is a good decision overall. Although I was not hit with, there were way too many -rep given out in some instances just because someone disagreed with another person's opinion. Now if we get all buyers & sellers to use itrader timely and properly that will be helpful.
