The Prestige - Have you seen it?

I figure since every forum I've ever seen discussing this movie erupts in debate, it would be fun to do here.

This is probably my favorite movie this year and it caused many questions the first time I saw it...so I watched it about 50 more times and finally convinced myself I know the truth behind the story. Still, I could be wrong...

Good flick....I liked it when I saw it but I didn't realize what was going on until the end.

Although after reading your post I am wondering if maybe there was something else I missed.

Awesome movie. Tesla is probably the greatest genius of the 20th century so I loved that he was a part of it. Genius move on the writers part how they incorporate real history into this.

The rivalry between Jackman and Bale was incredible too, one of the best I've ever seen on film.

I loved that the whole movie was like a magic trick in itself! It was just great to watch it unfolding...I saw this last year I think, one of my favorite movies of last year.

Thanks dude, you just got me excited to see it again!

It was ok. But i found the ending kinda predictable

its been a while man, its an awesome movie, however it did seem kind of cut and dry to me.....maybe i wasnt paying enough attention

At the end they basically tell you that you don't want to figure it out...you want to be fooled. It's a hint that what you see isn't exactly what you get. There's lots of clues throughout the movie, you really have to pay attention.

Dude, you lost me there. Maybe I need to Google it or have you send me/us a PM. If there's something I missed I'd like to watch it again. I had the DVD but my sister borrowed it and never gave it back. But they seem to show it a couple times a week on either Starz and/or Encore.

Maybe I have to watch it again...?

Those spoilers are wrong and the reason I started this thread was so others would come to their own conclusions...but you had to ruin it with your giant read "look at me letters" and marketing for no reason. Thanks a lot!

I saw it, and i loved it! Its one my favorite movies. Quick show of hands, who else here knew that Tesla was played by David Bowie? Huh? Huh? I never would have guessed it if I hadn't seen it a second time and watched through the credits!

(I find it highly amusing you try to argue with the representatives, critics, writers and producers of this movie. Please state your authority)... and my post warned NOT to read if you wanted to draw your own conclusions.

My, "look at me letters" were advice to readers out of good manners and consideration for others who might have better things to do than play your game and just wanted to 'skip to the chase'. I, for example, am way too busy making a living! I do, however, agree my "look at me letters" were attention-seeking. As a graphic designer I can confirm that is the point of upper-case fonts and highlighted colours.

I apologise if I took away your thunder but it is merely a movie that anyone with average intelligence and education can follow with ease and understand to its conclusion without further explanation or discussion. It was made for entertainment and so is hardly rocket science.

What relevance it has to Black Hat I am clearly not experienced enough to comment on or maybe I have totally missed the purpose of this forum and should now begin posts seeking advice on whether to go and see 'Iron Man'.

I have no desire to get into an argument or even a debate with you. Flame me if you must, but you will hear no more from me on this subject so you will be wasting even more of your time if you reply to this post, other than to provide one-sided entertainment for the readers.

It's true, most people, if they really knew how things were done would be pretty disappointed. Like that clown that gave out all the magician secrets on Fox a few years back and deservedly got blackballed by all the magicians. That show sucked.

Back to the Prestige though, I've only seen it once but I remember thinking that it would be great to run through it a couple more times and look for all the hints. Did you do that?

My feeling is that the machine probably didn't work how we were lead to think it did but it's so much more fun to think that it did. They put the only fairly well known person in history that could possibly make a machine like that in the movie, so that makes that theory so fascinating...great magic trick on us...
