Today is 1 week since my last cigarette. Been a daily smoker for 15 years.. It's definitely long overdue!

Who else has quit? Tried to quit? Wants to quit?

Let's hear your quitting smoking stories!

- Tried some months ago.
- Smoking since 15.
- After 24 hours my organs would literally hurt like hell (somehow).
- Felt too sick.
- Went and get a pack.
- Fvck my life.

For me it was quitting dip. Don't ever do it. I tried the patch, gum, just couldn't kick it. So I took up smoking. I actually hate smoking so I did that for a little

while. My advice is wait till get you sick, like bad cough or flu. It's hard to smoke anyway, you feel like shit so hey perfect time right.

Smoked for 5 years, quit over night 2 years ago.
I just... didn't want to anymore, I guess? I haven't craved one since.

Haven't smoked since March, took up vaping and cutting down on that too.
Smoked on and off since I was 12, now 48 so thought it was about time.
How tf people can drop smoking and take vaping? I tried that, instead of smoking a cigar every hour I would smoke a cigar every 50-60 minutes and between them I would vape. (not nicotine free vape)

Vaping took me 2-3 tries to get used to it. It has helped me and the wife kick the fags but it won't be for everyone. My wife now enjoys vaping and has bought box mods+kits etc, I have stuck to the vape pens mainly.
This week I have hardly vaped at all, so I think I should be able to give it up totally by Xmas/New Year. Definitely plan to have quit vaping by March 2019.

Upvote for the late Alen Carr's book. If you really want to quit just find a free copy using your old friend google, then if you succeed, just buy a copy and support his legacy. That way you've got nothing to lose.

That happened to me too, then i tried a slower approach took it down from 8 a day to 2 over 3 months, then decided on a day and just quit, felt like shit for a week drank way too much water(it helps but you wont have time to get out of the bathroom) , Also stocked up on those milk based candy bars(when you get a craving just eat something that you wouldn't normally accociate with smoking). Most of it is a mental game just trick your brain, start running and meditaing (i used sadguru yisha kriya, just search sadguru meditation ,easy to follow through on ) And finally keep your self busy

Well done @stack paper great move
It’s hard to make the decision but now you’ve done the hardest bit.

I gave up, I think it was about 8 or 9 years ago and it’s one of the best things I ever done.

Took a long time to get it out of my system but I definitely started to feel progressively better off as time went on.

Not smoked for about three weeks, smoked since I was 15 or so (mostly pot cause I was a kid and that's what kids do, however people grow up and stop smoking pot). Doesn't interest me if I smoke or not. I have never once craved smoking a cig, just something I do.

Stopped smoking for about 3 years now. I switched to vaping for awhile but then I got so full of it because of the sweetness of the juices so I quit that as well. Now I'm smoke free and alcohol-free at the same time. I'm 26 btw. Started smoking when I was 15.

great to hear...smoking has been one of the vices that came along with me working online starting in 2009 ...i now work a normal job but still cant kick the habit !!!! wish i could tho ..its killing me !

It's been about 6 months for me. Had enough of it and just stopped. Smoked for years but I didn't find it overly difficult because I knew it was what I wanted.

reading this outside on my mobile having a cigarette, no intention of quitting. Been smoking since i was 13 years old, now 48 :)

I am not a smoker but I have provided a solution to close relatives that has worked. In human behavior it takes about 21 days to form a habit. In you can replace cigarette's with something it will work. It is a combination of leaving the old habit and migrating into new habit at the same time forming a "Yes" mindset.

For example my friend with in 21 day's when he had a urge to smoke instead he grabbed a book and read it for 15 minutes. This is just a example but you can also eat a fruit, do push-up's etc. The idea is to condition your brain to replace the old habit with something new and after 21 day's of commitment your brain doesn't seek to smoke like it use to.

I hope those who are trying to quite will find this helpful :) Remember guys, all the money in the world can't buy back your health !

It’s funny because i just stopped few days ago. Not my first try but i’m really commited this time. Patience my dude we’ll make it

Smoked for 10+ years almost 2 packs a day. I got a vape pen about 2 years ago, help me cut down to about 5 cigarettes a day. After maybe 2 months I was only vaping and then I completely stopped vaping about 6 months later. Haven't had a smoke in about a year now and I hate the smell of cigarettes I cannot see myself smoke again.
