The Next Big 'Get Rich Quick' Idea...

Exactly what I was going to say, I see way more potential in augmented reality than VR, just take a look at Microsoft HoloLens or the glucose sensing contact lens that Google is working on.

Agreed. Honestly, I don't think VR will ever really take off aside from being a novelty thing.

I thought the Microsoft Hololens had a lot of potential, however the field of view is what ruined it for me. Still, even with that FOV problem, which is apparently being worked on to some extent, I think it has a lot of potential.
 
much of the problem is that everyone is looking for the "big deal" when they would be better off finding several small things and building on those.

in other words, instead of chasing after one thing that will generate a million dollars (which may never arrive), chase after ten things that will generate $100,000. each.

Well, same as the Google Glasses, I see the Microsoft Hololens being more a proof of concept rather than a consumer grade product, I think we still have to wait a few more years before having something really worth buying.
 
If we knew about or even suspected the next big thing, why would we tell you about it? Out of the kindness of our hearts?

The problem is that its too bulky in all the wrong places, and its going to be cucked in features. Google decided to ban Facial Recognition on Google Glass, which hurt alot of growth potential. How many police departments and bounty hunters would pay good money for something that helps them do facial recognition of wanted criminals and those with a bounty on them.

lead generation work has opportunities. watch some paul james vids on youtube, he seems to be doing very well with it. he sells leads to local business for $50. a lead.

I've thought of both as well. The only problem I'm seeing is that due to the highly technical nature of those veins it is difficult to find someplace to inject yourself. Obviously being that we are all in IM here the first instinct is to gobble up domains and run X, Y, or Z banking strategy but when I looked deeper at other opportunities I noticed that in order to really bank in AR or even VR you need to be a developer. Which is great if you have that skill set AND the time to go all in on an AR project... but going all in long term isn't what I'm personally looking for. Cashing in quickly on the first wave of a huge fad is more of what I'm looking to do personally. Pokemon GO could have been that if I had somehow known about it a few months prior to release. Because as we all know timing is everything.

What I suppose we need is a collection of good niche news sites that can be used to track fads. I'm considering programming a little bot that scrapes the sites I follow and looks for a sudden spike in use of two or three word phrases. This would have been very useful for me in the past.

No I won't. Nor will I keep it to myself. To spite what alwaysinvisible seems to think, tipping off my friends here in the BHW Jr VIP forum wouldn't kill the value of my find. Take Bitcoins for instance... if I had told everyone I knew (and I pretty much did) it would not have made a shred of difference. So just remember this thread and if you hear me screaming my head off about this "easy thing" that could make us all rich you may want to listen. Because trust me, I'm looking hard for it and I'm not gonna miss out this time.

People made millions spamming facebook ads with muscle, dating, weightloss offers... I remember facebooks ads accounts being sold for $1k to 2k.. Since then, Fb has got its act together and its much difficult now.

I also missed the bitcoin opportunity, I was offered 20 Bitcoins for free and a guy asked to start mining bitcoins but i ignored him.
