Most users assume that if a backlink is live, it automatically has value. In reality, many live links contribute almost nothing.
A backlink becomes valuable only when Google can find it easily, revisit it often, and pass authority through it.
What actually matters:
• Page crawl frequency
If Google rarely crawls the page, your link may exist, but it has limited impact. Pages that get traffic, updates, or internal links are crawled more frequently.
• Internal linking of the source page
A link placed on an isolated or poorly linked page passes very little value. Internal links help Google discover and reinforce the importance of that page and your backlink.
• Content freshness
Pages that are updated or maintained stay active in Google’s index. Old, stagnant pages slowly lose effectiveness, even if the link remains live.
A live link just exists.
A valuable link is one Google consistently sees, trusts, and processes.
Just sharing an observation that’s often overlooked. Happy to discuss
