The Ebola Google Update [October 2014]

I always enjoy hearing that I'm right. As an interesting aside, I just checked a site that I blasted the fuck out of that has a keyword that has no monthly searches according to Google and therefore classed as no value to them. It's on page 1, position 1 for it's keyword. Take from that what you will...

As usual those who lost ranks are complaining but we're not getting word from those who gained.... That's why these threads are always similar: folks who gained positions don't talk about it, they stay safe...
I gained notable boost in SERPs yesterday in the morning. What I've done:

I didn't exaggerate in any area of link building. Blog commenting on related niches, 10 PBN links on niche relevant websites, couple of links from directories and couple of links from Wikipedia. Sure I used some high PR spam on auto approve semi niche related sites, but not too much. I used exact match anchors on 2 of the PBN links and I made sure every article that links to my site also links to 2-4 other authority sites. I lost some of the PR juice because of that, but I rather keep it safe. My KW density is below 2% on every page.

I built all of those links slowly and I built about 50% of them on inner pages. I bought PBN links from a guy that doesn't sell them publicly.

In the future I won't use exact match anchor text for incoming links at all. If a silo structure of a website is great, surely Google recognizes all of the most important keywords you try to rank for and anchor text for inbound links doesn't matter that much at all, but it makes it easier for Google to recognize spammers.

Also, I won't buy EMD domains any more. Short and brandable domains get more clicks from search engines, but homepages are harder to rank for main KW, but that's not the point. I see more and more inner pages dominating the SERPs and that's how it should be.

Perfect silo structure, 2000+ word of content on inner pages optimized for money keywords, and perfect silo structure with exact anchor inbound links have more value in my opinion.

I'm done with EMDs as well now. A site that I actually wanted to buy a while ago has totally dropped out of the rankings. This site in question was on page 1, position 1 and making a killing from Amazon Associates. Interestingly, a hubpages hub that wasn't on there before is now on page 1, position 3 for this term.

I'm seriously tempted to make my own hub, blast it with GSA and get some money in the adverts.

SER is just a tool that can create certain types of links... many of those same links can be created with SENuke, Magic Submitter, Turbo Ranker, etc.... or if you're really anal you can even log in and manually post your links on all those sites and try to call it whitehat :)

Any thoughts about using Turbo Ranker vs. GSA?

As I was reading this thread it dawned on me that you are VERY LIKELY onto something with Google using our data against us. You see, my site got hit pretty badly... in the last week, I've also been helping a friend up his street dance studio site (local business in Australia). All I did was install analytics, and build a few local directory links... and now all the keywords are not even in the top 50 whereas they were in the 20's-30's before (and higher locally).

Wow Google... I can't swear because I'm new here but I am extremely enraged by this, what a way to lose any shred of trust I had left.

OP thread title got me with "Ebola Google", LMAO, wondering how the black disease connect to search engine, Ebola kills people, Google don't.

What doesn't kill you make you stronger, someone quotes?

Get rid of analytics.

I don't want to share an experiment that I have been tweaking for quite a while because I don't want it flooded, nor do I want google to pick up on it. I have shared it with a few people here and they can vouch that it works. But I am ranking very hard keywords and it is not costing me anything. I will say this, and you can go from there. If you don't have analytics, the googlebot will pick up the stats from the statistics log that your host provides. There are ways to manipulate that log. Use your imagination and take it from there.

I havent been hit yet, i use very strict filters for GSA SER and only use it for t2/3

No, keep it and track every little piece of data. I'm doing the very same, even with some fake sites to prove my point. If this can be proven we should team up and start a lawsuit. Loss of profits will be paid in full, with fines on top.

Sounds like a very sweet revenge to all this bullshit. All they obviously want is to pump up their numbers before December 31st so they can start the new year by presenting those blown up numbers to new investors.

Deleting Analytics will only harm yourself, not them. Besides, they'll still know a lot.

You shouldn't post that here lol.

I think the point is to *never* use Google javascript includes, never use analytics or adsense, nothing that can track you personally. Once you have it there, you've already flagged yourself, it's probably no use to remove it.

Remember javascript libraries are now loading from www.google.com so their central domain is getting all your cookies and identity if you're logged in. It's no longer anonymous stats if the requests are sent to www.google.com - funny how nobody mentions this, since it's a major privacy issue. (If you'd like to check this, open Firebug and watch the network requests as googleapis.com redirects to www.google.com....)

Did anyone use GSA for a new site 1.5 month old and got hit?
few weeks ago when people started to talk about the next Update i register 2 new sites. From day 1. i run GSA on one site and on the other site i did few links, Social Media and some PR's. not very hard niche. Site 1 GSA nothing change. Site 2 Gone. i did that test on purpose cause i wanted to check how back Google go for the data its collect on a site and mark it as bad links.

I have a somewhat similar situation, but wouldn't be surprised if the update will take more sites down in the upcoming weeks. Until now a GSA 'spammed' site of mine didn't get hit either, whilst another non-spammed site vanished from the SERPS, this could be just a dance though. As said, it won't surprise me if they still catch up to recently spammed sites, even though the update doesn't seem to specifically focus on that.

since i hear about this update is coming i just increased threads on GSA from 125 to 275 .the site still doing well, hope the rank will increase.
