It still 'works,' in that articles can get accepted and approved, and can be on whatever subject the writer wants to submit. The sticking point is the upfront payment---YV now usually declines upfront pay 70-80% of the time, although it still provides performance payments.
The main workarounds to this remain stacking the content (write content for your site, WSO, PLR, etc that can be posted on YV, so you can bank from the writing in multiple ways), or stack the monetization (find somebody who wants to see articles linking to their site posted there, and have them pay you per article approved on YV). Either way, prepare content that earns from other directions than just YV itself, and use it as a high profile (Yahoo) vehicle to promote your writing and/or links.

i would say around $2 to $3 per article paid is the average..

I am a bit confused now. Can you please tell me where to upload the article ?? I have to upload it to yahoo or ezine or some where else ?

Associated Content is no more now it is converted into yahoo voices but yahoo still pays for the article, this information is very informative for me because I am wondering how to earn enough money in less time, thanks for the share 
Thanks, I'm going to try it out again. I tried using a free web-based speech recognition but it didn't help me due to all the errors. (Mine kept inserting sentences about Taylor Swift and other nonsensical nouns). Hopefully the Dragon will work better for my content generation

A great source for articles is other peoples blogs. I believe that most people with a really good blog won't put their blog content onto article sites because of the duplicate content penalty.
