You’ve got impressions climbing every week, but clicks aren’t following. The result? A jagged little graph that opens up like a jaw, sharp teeth and all.

This isn’t a reporting glitch. It’s the effect of Google’s AI Overviews.

Your content can now show up in the regular search results and inside the AI-generated answer box. Both count as impressions, but the user usually gets what they need without clicking through.

So on paper, visibility improves. In practice, traffic drops. And suddenly, the usual SEO signals start to mean something very different.
Seeing exactly the same. But becoming aware of reasons behind doesn't help me sweat less.

Moreover, intuition yells that we need something beyond just snippet optimization. Any ideas on possible solutions for throwing content into the readers' faces?

I've considered affordable paid options — pay-per-impressions in social media and promoting informational content in Google Display Network, as well as some more interesting yet less scalable approaches.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, Google’s AI overviews are squeezing CTR hard, especially on info queries. I’ve been experimenting with injecting hooks right into the snippet-friendly sections, like questions followed by bold benefit-driven answers. Also trying content bridges, short blurbs that tease a deeper solution or free tool behind a click. On some pages, I added scroll-triggered CTA banners early in the layout to catch the rare clicks that still happen. PPC might help, but so can UX tweaks that shift user intent toward curiosity.

I am also looking into this issue and it is very confusing. It is true that the display is increasing but there are not many click, it seems that SEO is changing quite a lot with the appearance of AI answer boxes. It seems that I need to do something to increase the attractiveness and encourage users to click instead of just seeing the information directly on Google. Can anyone help me please
