The Calculated Risk of Using PBNs

Google does not care too much about PBNs. If they wanted they could penalize much more of them. I guess it is ok for them to see people using pbns to rank. Many big sites ranked with them or with similar shady techniques. I see many websites that are ranking for hundreds if not thousands of profitable keywords and getting hundreds of thousands of visitors every month ranking mainly with PBNs. If Google would really mind that I am sure they could check first xx thousand of websites for outgoing traffic. But it's ok with that.

I believe folks at Google are happy with the situation being the way it is. They just don't want the PBNs to become too widespread so every month they try to penalize a few of the SEOs that are just asking for it. With this they try to install fear into other SEOs. However in reality ranking with PBNs is not that dangerous. They don't mind a small SEO guy getting few thousand clicks every month with few PBNs. Surely it'd be better not to have that, but it's not really a big issue for them.

I think the point with Google is that everything has to be as automated as possible - it's not viable for them to manually review anything I guess unless it's to solve some sort of anomaly in their algorithm.

I think the pbns and other links that slip through the net are like "waste" - every business has that percentage of waste that they can tolerate.

So generally if you don't hit any of their automated checks you will be ok, and if you are unlucky enough to get manual review you are screwed. But I think it's unlikely.

Spot on.

So many people here are so damn full of shit when it comes to linkbuilding and especially PBN sites. @hekke is 100% right, it's just not worth the effort to even try build a PBN site that passes a manual review. Anyone that isn't a fucking retard can still see it's a PBN site even when you use handwritten content and add extra pages and all that jizz. Hell, the vast majority of my PBN sites look like shit, have unreadable content on them and I rank just fine.

Arguing about this with @Floopa75 is pointless. It's in his best interest to have as many as possible believe in his manual high quality hand written looks like money site bla bla PBN talk since he sells those links.

I closed my thread about 3 or 4 days ago. Swing and miss, try again!

+1
Where are the stats ?

It has been said many times here:

  • public selling pbns with link reports: High risk
  • public selling pbns without link reports: risk
  • public selling pbns through words of mouth, shared between few people: medium risk
  • private pbn links shared between your own sites: low risk
  • private pbn links (blocking 3rd party crawlers) shared between your own sites: very low risk
  • private pbn,1 pbn network per 1 money website,(blocking 3rd party crawlers): virtually no risk & best choice

Can you tell me how to block 3rd party crawlers?

i didn't know if this has been mention or not. If the buyer bought the site and you mention that you use PBN to rank, will you also gave them your PBN's to them?

Thanks for the share. Very informative. I have a little question here: How do I hide my PBNs?

Whatever the justification, 100k is a lot of money to be just put into drain. I am quite sure that kind of sale will come with certain amount of guarantee of business continuation.

in all seriousness, its cool seeing the different perspectives people have on PBNS.

Great post! Totally agreed with every point you've made. After all, not only PBN's... but everything in IM and in business in overall (whether online-offline) is a calculated risk without a 100% guarantee. If it was all safe and secure, everyone would jump into business and investing if the ROI is guaranteed. There is a reason people fear failure in business, don't take action etc. While it is important to often risk in order to benefit more along the way, sometimes, especially when times are tough, one should really consider what's at stake and it is all good to not make a bigger move. Not everyone is going to succeed and be lucky in IM, or life in overall. Luck is a very important factor that most of the time it is overlooked.

Ignore the naysayers and do what you plan to do.... if it's a 5k/mo site, that's 60k a year... no wonder it should cost 100k for it to be sold! If the owner would be wise, he'd double the profit, if not, it will fail. If unlucky, the site will get penalized.

A real life example. My brother is an art professor and an abstract painter by trade. He recently held an exhibition in Paris, France with 15 of his paintings. The gallery that promoted the paintings got paid 6k for the exhibition (7 days).... his paintings are valued 2-3k each. None of them sold this particular exhibition. However, there are times that 7-8 are sold... so now do the math.

Moral of the story: most of the the gallery owners are filthy rich by promoting other artists paintings. If they'd wake up one day and said: well, this is not a moral business because I cannot guarantee the painters that their artwork will sell.... they'd be homeless soon. If the artists are guaranteed that their artwork will sell, then no wonder right? Everyone would hold exhibitions and become rich! Use some logic naysayers.

How about used httrack to clone different website and link it together,is it also count in pbns?I tested to clone a few websites, the look exactly same , but what can I used those website for make money ? if Google alre know that is a clone website

If you have the time and knowledge to build your own, this is a great article to start out with

I don't rent out links or anything to any other sites.

Interesting - I am sending you out a PM now. Reading through this thread, I once again was reminded how important it is to get your own PBN. Maybe this is something I shall focus on for some time now.

I dont see any problem if you tell the buyer that you used pbn. The rest depends on the buyer whether he ll go for it or not. Simple
