Just one opinion:
Google's typical defense is to be a bully or acquire, they've earned that right. Google might kill itself by abusing their power and manipulating and compromising search quality so they can push social engineering. Instead of giving search results you seek, they are pushing ads (like yahoo did) and driving search results they want you to see, whether you are searching for them or not.

Why do you think chatgpt aint that? Me personally, I use chatGPT more and more often instead of Googling it, and if it's something I want to check out, I just ask it to give me sources along with the answer in my first prompt.

because ChatGPT isn't as mainstream as you actually think.
Just because you "use" it more doesn't mean everyone does. Don't get me wrong, I use ChatGPT more than I use a SE for most needs.
Now, if we go into the gritty stuff
a SE should be indexing web continuously offering real time info on current stuff, while ChatGPT relied on existing training data.
a SE shows live sites and what not while ChatGPT doesn't actaully access live websites, it responses are based on patterns in its training data.
If ChatGPT does really take over, SEO is doomed completely.
Which means, blog masters will dwindle, which means, your data on any big platform is much more $$$
Big companys will push for encryption to be banned
there will be no privacy left whatsoever
Might not be scary, probably, maybe and ChatGPT will most likely continue to trend in huge amounts of debts and waste funds on buying domains like chat.com

Yeah, no doubt about it. If you want a human response, you go to tiktok, reddit or whatever social media they are using as search engine. You want a precise response, you use ai. Why would you use google anymore, besides the ads, "we" are to blame, forcing the ranking of websites that aren't helpful for anyone, but to the webmaster monetizing with ads.
Not considering the ads on any platform ranking solely because of $$$, things will change when we accept we aren't helping anyone on the internet. Real value helps and should be positioned #1. But that's not our thing, so I never understand when google is trashed here. Cheating the google system (and weirdly afterwards saying that google is shit) doesn't help real people looking for answers, secret cream to fix your skin that all dermatologists hate in cpa doesn't either, shitting one after another soulless ai short on youtube either, etc.

If it's "fundamentally" different to a search engine, it's irrelevant. The theoretical definition of it doesn't matter if it's making a tangible impact against google, so there's actually a discussion to be made there, even by those so stupid normies that don't understand.

Yes all of these will ultimately be google's demise. I am waiting for the giant to fall down, and someone else take his place.

No! Google is still a big player, but yeah I agree that AI tools and private search engines are giving it a tough competition. However the way it adapts will shape Google's future. Definitely 2025 will not be its end, but yeah possibly things could change a lot.

don't excuse them because they are a multi-trillion company with one of the best technologies in the world, if they can fight white hatters so efficiently they can do the same with black hatters and abusers, they just choose not to because it doesn't serve their needs.
How was it possible in the 2000s to get varied replies from google on every keyword you looked up in their SE when google didn't have enough data about its users yet and wasn't as focused on dissecting and influencing their behaviour like they do today with their cohorts of linguists, psychologists, statisticians and mathematicians? Hos is it possible that they now know more about us than our own families and governments and yet, when we search for results we are still served garbage that we don't want or like?
They do this on purpose and because they're evil and only chase after money (which I have no problem with, but when they purposely harm others to make money that's where they should be trialed for like common criminals and jailed, fined, and have ALL of their assets seized. That's the only way to teach the companies lessons...)

The end began when they started censoring/filtering. They betrayed their own business model. Instead of showing the most relevant content to the users, they show what they think you should see. So, for example, if the search term is "Clash of Clans hack" and I make a website all about the Clash of Clans hack, they will say my site is spam and shadow ban me, even tho my site is exactly what the people are looking for and way more relevant than a website that shows "tips and tricks for Clash of Clans".
