[TEAMWORK] Over Optimisation Penalty - BEEN HIT? Post here!

Been hit? So have I. We need to work together to solve the mystery behind why our websites have dropped. So, lets compare all important/relevant metrics. Fill in the survey below. Feel free to fill it in multiple times for different websites. Then we can compare our different strategies, and analyze them. I will be starting a second thread surveying people who have NOT been hit. Please only fill in this survey if you have been hit. Organisation is key; otherwise our data will get muddled and it'll be hard to figure out which strategies work and which ones don't!

All of them ranked for the homepage. They all are not in Top 100 now. My domain.com/pagename are all ranking though

Blackhat. I have had links built to it.

Maybe about 10-15?

No, the website is static.

Yes

60% for KW1. 20% for KW2.

Absolutely not

10. Has only the root domain been hit?
No. The root domain + another subdomain that was acting as a landing page have been hit. No other pages have been hit.

11. Describe the penalty you have received.



Happened overnight.

12. Describe your backlinking strategy.
I used a combination of:

• 125 social bookmarks
• 5+ link pushes for each page
• Bronze/Silver link pyramids from Shadowcat
• the G-BUSTER package

This, for every page.

This is a business website that is selling a product. Its not a spammy blog. It has perfect onsite SEO.

On a side note I did do the exact same to another 2 word keyword domain that I started up and pointed to commission junction. But not any conversions... Anyway I only did the above mentioned cycle 2 times with only one SENuke blast for around 50 web2.0. That was sitting at position 9 yesterday. Today number 2 just below a Youtube video.... That site is 4 months old. I did cycles from day 1.

Guys, please don't mind; but i think this is a bad idea.

google's team is obviously researching on about the affect and this thread will give them all the data they need

I personally think we should wait for 1 week and after things are settled down, work on this plan

Targeted 2 keywords position changed as follows
KW 1 main, #20 => 400s
KW 2, => 150

Ahh... i'm pretty sure google knows what is going on with their serps

I doubt our survey will be helping them with their algorithim. If mods actually suspect it would - feel free to delete these threads

Almost all keywords have lost some 10-30 spots

I basically didn't do much backlinking to this site. Some pyramids, some BMR posts (gets interesting - read on).

Fun fact to point you in the right direction and confuse you as hell - The page i ranked #3 with BMR alone kept its rank even post update.

This was a test site and now it proved its purpose

Some might ask why a test site of 80 posts, well for best stats, simple 10 pages websites are the low end, i still needed the high end.

11. Describe the penalty you have received. For main keyword it was at number 11 on second page. and for other keywords it was on 17,26,33 places. Now for main keyword it is at 66. rest are gone.

12. Describe your backlinking strategy. I used to create social network backlinks using senukex and blasted the social networks with SB list. Sometimes blast the main page with wiki links. In last 15 days... i did not touched the site even. no backlinks.. nothing whatsoever.
13. Any other relevant comments. Although many pages are disappeared but the page rank is intact. it is still PR2 site.

I did not got hit. I am not owning a blog. It is a website which has been developed by me from scratch. It is made for users not for ads.
I never used any paid service. I only own sb and the tools i developed my self.

im pretty sure there someone from google on this forum getting info, and your giving more

I run a company that offers SEO and all of my clients are good after the update but my main page which is not created for ads. I think that in some cases it's just a mistake...
