Taking action - Any suggestions?

    Hi everyone,

    First, English is not my main language so i apologize in advance for all the mistakes I make. I would also like to thanks everyone for all the awesome threads on this forum. I am reading bhw for a year... even if its my first post. Lots are inspiring too.

    I am a financial advisor so i am selling a service and insurance. Now i'm not working for a bank anymore, i have to find my own customers. It's pretty easy to prove that i can be better than most bank(especialy with better insurance product for cheaper). I just have to sit some people at my office. I usually get a sale 3 times out of 4. I already made a website and got a "good", i think, adwords account with a budget of 50$/day. So far, (a week) i had a few call but no business yet. I have an average of 400$/sale, when i do one. No sale from google yet tho.

    I am thinking of ordering some flyers but im not too sure about it. About the poor image that it shows... And where would i put them? on windshield? to people on the sidewalk? Door to Door not selling the services but just giving the flyer with some info?

    I am thinking of sending maybe 100 direct mailing... but its hard to get the exact adress of potential customers with their full name. Is there any free scraper that i can use? Then, i could call those people back 3 days after sending the letter.

    Any other lot budget suggestions?

    Also, do asking more info for an item on craglist and replying with my signature saying, ohh i already found that item, thanks for you answer, could work to get some leads to my website? anyone already tryed it?

    Got around 10 applications from my website, 2 meetings booked so far.
    I just started a 50$ gas giftcard sweepstakes on facebook for someone who will like our FB page within the next month.

    Im now (550$) on adwords. Hope I get something out from the upcoming meeting.

    Tell me if you have any good ideas

    try to rank for regional aerea ...... buying adwords in this niche is expensive.

    i would expect more success by flyers in the aerea.

    If you rank for the keywords in relation to your city you would not have to pay for adwords.. ranking anything in a city is pretty easy. I would definitely go hand out fliers, at a grocery store. local coffee shops. Post ads on craigslist as another person has already said. Get something in your local newspaper, buy big advertising magnets for your car off of vistaprint. get banners and lawn signs. try to team up with different stores or gyms and hand people free candies with your cards or something. people are much more likely to give something to you if you first give them something. think about that.

    My experience in building business and developing relationships with clients is there's no better way of building your business than making quality face to face contact with prospects that you hope & plan to turn into clients. I was a stock broker with Edward Jones, and they are the largest private investment firm yet they are the only ones that teach & follow a more traditional method of building business.

    In short, the model they use is this:
    25 NEW contacts every day (Face to face is best, but not always possible...but everyday)
    Depending on your service or product, this may vary as you possibly don't need multiple times with a client before selling them, but then again you won't sell every client right away, so after each day of making new contacts you should follow up with a "thank you" letter/email for their time, and something brief that can lead to another opportunity to follow up with them in the future. If nothing else, it's professional, and it's NOT what your competitors are doing. There's no magical number...25 may be too many, too few, but whatever number works for you I suggest making it the standard that you stick to, as consistency/repetition are key factors to your success in self employment. The difference in the top and the bottom of what you do is what you did. Sounds simple, but that's it.

    I'm all for technology, and I use it, but in whatever you offer, find a personal & real approach to meeting prospects and establishing value in what you have to offer.
    This is a short version, and hopefully it makes sense, I've had a few calls as I have written it, but if you would like some help or ideas on how to find prospects etc, PM me, i am happy to help. Your ideas are all valid ones, and all of them will work to an extent, just remember that the key is ACTION/CONSISTENCY...rinse and repeat. Good luck my friend

    Cold call or get someone to do it for you. If you don't have the money to pay them since you are just starting out then pay them on commission. When I first started my business I was doing anything to bring in money. One thing that we did was sell insurance leads to agents like yourself. I am not sure what kind of insurance leads you are selling but below is a script that we used with huge success. Hope you can use it. Also I really wouldn't put your time and money into flyers and direct mail. With the exception of door to door as it does yield the highest ROI out of any type of marketing. I would put the majority of your time and money into online marketing. Focus on local and start building your internet presence online. It's not going to happen overnight but it will pay off down the road. Build business citations across all major and industry specific review and directory sites. Stick with your adwords campaign. Work on raising your quality score and making adjustments to your website so that you can lower your CPC and increase your lead count. Also get involved in online communities like yelp, linkedin, and forums that your target audience frequents.
