Take a break from IM or it will break you

thanks for sharing your story.... one of the best ways to counterbalance all the time grinding at a computer is to get out in nature, get intense exercise, shit like that.... lots of fresh air and water etc. Health is underrated these days. thanks for the reminder :)

Such an important post. I've seen too many people working their way to an early grave. Of course sometimes it's beyond their control, that's what they need to do to stay afloat.

If you can strike a balance you really need to. It's a good investment in the long run.

Thank you for writing this.

These days all I see myself doing is IM related stuff. I have 3 sites that I am concentrating on it just gets too much at times and lets be honest, you DONT need to work EVERYDAY when it comes to SEO but I don't know why I am constantly monitoring my sites, checking SERPS if anything increased or decreased. Now that I think of it, its not good for me but it is what I am doing.... Even when I am out, I will use my phone to check Amazon to see if I made more sales, if any rank increased.. its just stupid when I think of it. My sleeping schedule is fucked ( I sleep at 12-1PM and wake up at 8-9PM and then I'm up all night ) Even when I have nothing to do, I'll think of ways of doing something. I am just 20 right now and all I want is to build a future for myself in IM since it is what I love but i think its getting too much for me and I am exerting myself waayyy too much.

I have a trip planned up in march, I hope it is the break that I need.

Again, thank you so much for writing this. This actually made me realise how much I am exerting myself.

Very true. Earning good money is another thing but we must learn enjoy that money. I go on a vacation twice a year although I am not making anything that would be considered good income :P but it helps to keep up the motivation.

Now reading your posts and all those replies, I think I should take a break from time to time.

Started way back in 2006 and worked for 18 hours a day and then adsense used to pay up nicely. I burned out by 2009-10 and then forced a break on myself for 2 years, didn't have the guts to do anything. Then restarted after two years, fast forward and i am breaking up work in small bursts and it is helping well. Yes, take breaks else you will burn out.

This morning I felt that wave of negativity...tired as shit, feel like dogshit from working on the computer like 16 hrs a day and not knowing If i'm wasting my time and my life...at least your out of the tunnel...I'm barely seeing the light right now saw about 5 bucks in revenue the last couple days ha

These ups and downs are normal in this business. I had my sleepless nights and super stressed days but never gave up and never will. I have some tricks i learned over the years i want to share with u:

1. Depression? Doubt? Negativity? - what works for me - wake up one morning put ur close on and go outside place ur self on a bench and observe people that are taking the bus or metro to their 9-5. Based on ur observation ask yourself are they happy? Can I do this everyday for the next 30 years for a shitty pay?
For me the answer is always NO!

2. Burnt? Sad? Tired? - I just go to a gym that has a pool and sauna and swim for 1 hour and stay for 15 min in the sauna. The physical workout does wonders for the brain and mood and the sauna sweats the stress out.

I can just say, that whoever does not understand OPs post haven't been working in IM for real. Sorry to hear it went that bad in the way sort of beta blockers... But this is so true.

And no, this is not as any other profession. IM is really really specific health/head wise.

We all go sometimes into endless loops of repetitive tasks and brainstorming that without vent can really make a mind blow.

Thank you for sharing this bro. Apparently, health is the first and foremost thing to take care. I started IM a couple of months ago and gained more than 20 pounds by just sitting in front of my laptop screen.

Everyday I think of going out for workout, but u know, tomorrow never comes.

Your post is a great motivation for a person like me.

Cheers for health!!

It's nice to see posts like this where people are open about how life takes it's toll on them and they're not just bragging about being Tai Lopez <sniggers>.

Health both mental and physical is important, the advantage most of you young bucks have is you're under 35. if you're feeling ill, depressed go seek medical advice. PREVENTION is better than cure.

Depression is not a nice place to be in, Black Dog can be a killer. I recently lost a friend who I thought was doing well i himself, but he was suffering PTSD. He had a lovely partner ( she adored him) and he topped himself, 2 days after posting great pictures of them both out on the beach together, smiling and having fun.

Moved house last year and we had no internet for 4 days and it was fucking awesome. We sat outdoors, I read 2 books I had been wanting to read, enjoyed the sun and chilled.
