Would like to report that Taboola is trash based on my experience

Wasted weeks of time on a complex code injection setup to get an awesome 4 cent CPC

Absolute garbage and the ads are also super low quality plus take up enormous amounts of space for nothing

I have friends working there, and I used to with with them a lot (as an advertiser, but still).
From what I've seen, the better the site - the higher the CPC.

I'm not saying your site is poor, but you didn't give enough information to try looking into what drives the CPC down.

We tried to fix for weeks. My sites have over 1 million PVs per month and one has existed since 2006.

The root cause of the problem is their ad inventory is laughable. The ads look like absolute garbage (the annoying type that say something like “learn this cool trick to lose 13 lbs in a month”).

And also the publisher must be allowed (must) to say do not show any ads at all on my site unless CPC is over $1

Confusing how in year 2024 with inflatition cpc 4 cents but in 2010 was regularly taking $5+

These are the ads of arbitrage advertisers, as you probably know. Not the type of advertisers who are looking for the premium inventory.

The amount of traffic you have is not really an indication for whether you are considered a premium placement or not, but 4cents is stupidly low, I must agree.

Is your AM allowed to list your site as a premium one? What's your industry?

My main issue is the fact they don’t let you set a CPC floor. they are basically asking publishers to leave

It’s ok I give up on them. the time wasted alone on them cost me over $750

All publishers should be “premium” and allowed set a CPC floor

Two of the 3 sites were extremely high paying industry vertical (cannot say but is one of the hottest areas now)

but yeah move on… just warning should avoid these guys. good way to waste time and money

I used it a year ago. I agree, it's pretty bad. Any good alternatives?

No good alternatives. All sucks imo. The most confusing thing to me is why it’s so complicated to have a CPC network which lets publishers set a floor/min CPC

Literally 50 lines of code to implement and all publishers would flock to a network like this

I saw good results on Service based programs and courses + Real Estate

Because no sane advertiser would pay for such traffic. Maybe only if your traffic would contain only people who are ready to buy something.

The point is I don’t want trash appearing on my site. If the trash doesn’t hit my CPC floor, I should be able to replace that trash ad with another ad network

There is absolutely zero reason not to let the publisher have ability to choose “no” and be able serve something else b/c the pay is too low

I totally agree. The traffic I've been getting through Taboola is terrible, especially since they seem to have no control over where their ads end up. I recently found out that a lot of theri ads are showing up on sites using Linkvertise. Not exactly the high-quality leads I was hoping for. Just wasted money
