Hey guys,

lately I been thinking to abandon Windows 7 and upgrade to 8.1, however I'm quite unsure in which way it would actually improve my working and overall user experience...

Did you switch from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 or are you about to do so? What are your reasons?
If not, can you tell me what keeps you away from Windows 8.1?

Cheers!

I wouldn't upgrade. If I need a new computer in the future I will be requesting a downgrade from Microsoft or just formatting and using a pirated version of windows 7. The new interface is just dumb in my opinion.

noooooo windows 8 is the biggest piece of shit just like vista lol

I don't see myself upgrading to W8 in the coming future as I never had a problem with W7, it's still working perfectly for my needs. I see no point in fixing something which is not broken.

All I can say is that I'm happy with 8.1, it boots faster than Windows 7. Although having some compability issues, just find the drivers and you'll be okay.

There's nowt wrong with Windows 8. Sure the new metro interface is shit, but simply type the program you want and it'l come up. I quite like that.

Plus, when the metro interface comes up, it's only one click to get to the desktop. It's not a major burden. Plus you can install 'classic shell' and get your start menu back.

If your Win7 is running good, don't bother upgrading just because you can; but if your Win7 needs a reformat anyway... I'd say do it.

Vista was much better than XP but some idiots whined because there wasn't much support for old hardware and software. But in any aspect the Vista was better than XP so is the 8.1 superior to any previous windows version. The modern UI is as fast or even faster to use than the old start menu, just learn to use win+s and you are done. And if you don't have SSD, then the upgrade is must. The W8.1 boots in like 20 secs on an old HDD, Windows 7 took something close to a minute. I have used windows 8 from the release to the date and I have never doubted it. It took two days to adapt to the new UI and there is no coming back as it is faster and easier than the old 7.

I have it pre-installed in my razer blade and for the past few weeks I've been using it, it has actually been a good experience. If those windows tiles annoy you, you can change it so that it goes directly to your desktop. What I really like about it is its search function, it finds anything on your comp and the web pretty fast. Oh and if you use hotmail, the email notifications come in handy.

Grab an extra hard drive and test it out for yourself. You might like it.

I really like windows 8, and recommend it

8 is fast then 7.

but i use both (you can easily install 2 versions on single pc )

I'm used to Windows 8, now. I don't actually MIND it like I MINDED - Vista. That being said there is no reason to ''upgrade'' per say. I only have win8 on my new laptop. I'm perfectly happy with Win 7 on all my other setups. 8 is just a way for M$oft to spread across their crappy new layout among all formats windows phone/XBOX/ and so forth.
It's fine to use but their really is no reason to upgrade.

I had win 8 and i hate it,prefer stick to windows 7

I use W7 on all my machines (Debian / Ubuntu as well) and W2012 in some of my VPS (but W2008 in most of them).
I take a long time to upgrade my OS, if my current one is working great why change so soon?

For fast search on W7 I advise Agent Ransack.

Same here.Never been a fond of 7.Upgraded to 7 SP1 and i am quite satisfied never has any issue with windows 7 since its launched.

I hope they don't make a new HALO game that only runs on Windows 8. I was dissapointed when HALO 2 came out on Windows Vista. Are they that desperate?

Let's put it this way: Let's imagine world war III starts, everyone dies of hunger and Justin Bieber, Hitler and Michael Moore share the presidency of the world.... Still better than win 8.1
