Hi guys, to cut a long story short I've always been a lazy SEO going for whatever tools I could find and until 18 months ago it always worked! Well... I've swapped and decided to build a private blog network (PBN) by buying expired domains (forgetting pagerank and going for pa/da or genuine education site links). I've built 10 sites and handwritten articles, all varying length but mostly between 300-700 words and been hosting them all on the same servers (still pretty lazy...)

I had been using SENuke twice a week (full monty plan - see I told you I was lazy) and after an initial boost very little was happening other than the sites were really erratic. I've been following 4 websites for my Private Blog Network which I started 5th May all in the same industry and fairly niche but quite competitive, and stopped using SENuke at the same time.

Site 1 - This site was #1 until I did a scrapebox blast on it the day after the first Penguin... it vanished off the face of the Earth. Whilst using scrapebox it would float between #60-80. Once switching to the PBN it hovered around #70-90, and has since rose to #50-60. So no major change... however.....

Site 2 - This site never did much, its probably more competitive that site 1, but I never got it high EVER. It followed a similar pattern to site 1, however (and this is the exciting bit that has prompted writing this update) it has just jumped to #9-13 for the main phrases. It jumped yesterday and has stayed there today!

Will I get much traffic from this change? Probably not... but I have done NOTHING else to this site - its probably had less links made on the PBN than the other sites as I was focusing on moving them up more, but something has worked. I've done an ahrefs check and all the top sites coming up for it now are PBN links.

So.... I'm hoping that this boost will hopefully pass onto the other sites as well in the coming weeks... fingers crossed. But it's proof that the PBN has took 2 months to create results after SENuke and crap link building.

Site 3 - I havent paid much attention too, it's been hovering between #5-7 for seemingly forever and hasnt really changed much.

Site 4 - This is the main site i've been targeting the links at, it's been at #4-6 for months, and has a high conversion rate so i've been trying hard to get it to #1 again so I can get some cash in the bank. So far it has crept to #2-4 since implementing the PBN so I thought the boosts from the PBN would be more stable than overnight leaps... however Site 2 has proven me wrong.

I provide this in the hope of being a bit like a diary and fingers crossed more results will be on the way!
I'm a happy converted lazy-seo into a pbn-seo now! Its been tough work building the PBN, but its quite fun if you make it that way, and if it's done properly then you dont have to do it again and again and again because the links are there to last and build authority over the coming years.

Hope this helps people and I hope I have some more exciting news soon and this isn't just an exciting blip.

I think many seo's are going down a similar route, and if they aren't they should be!

    Good luck mate :)

PBN is very powerful if done right, but a little pricey. For a quality PBN you'll be dropping 100s per domain.

There should be no doubt anymore in the minds of IMers as to the efficacy of PBN's.

The problem is PBN's aren't PBN's aren't PBN's - some stooges will buy DA 5/TF1/ CF29 domains and then say 'PBN's don't work'... As always, I guess, the lesson is that one needs to examine who they're believing and who they're disregarding.

I was trying to find really good expired domains some time ago. Spend few weeks, build few bots and really good domains never expire. You need to buy them on auctions and spend $XXX per domain.

    My PBN would suggest otherwise...

I'm not sure how much good can be done if you got manual penelties during your senuke day though. Good luck.

PBNs are always a better option as you have full control over them and your backlinks would stay for as long as you wish.

Thanks everyone, I'm adding one new article targeting one site (or some of them target several of the sites) about once a week at the moment, I can touch type and it takes me around 4 hours per week to update. But the sites are company websites so the money is amazing when the #1 traffic arrives so worth it, just hard work when you dont see much result for all the work.

12 months ago I was inclined to agree, however Site 2 had been blasted probably the most out of the 4 sites. It's more Site 1 i'm worried about because of the scrapebox blast - but that was over a year ago - most of those links will be dead now. I dont believe that google penalizes sites, I believe poor links contain zero-little value and sites with a lot of them have a lot of trust to build back up - Site 2 has proven to me that it's not an impossible battle.

To clarify, all sites had used SENuke regularly but with differing results. Site 1 and 2 were very erratic, Sites 3 and 4 were less erratic but still on page 1.

Senuke is a great link building tool and it's efficacy becomes even higher when combined with PBN links. So, I think they should be used together instead of dropping one for the other. Btw, you are getting some pretty good results.

Definitely. Whether you use SENuke, GSA Search Engine Ranker, Ultimate Demon or any other software (or all of them!) it's best to have a multi-pronged approach to link building.

Private blog networks, press releases, guest blog posts, spam links, newspaper links, citations, you name it. The more diverse, the merrier.

Well one month on... I focused my attention to Site 4, stuck at #2-4
It moved down to more like #3-5 after the original post, I made about 3 articles with a link just to that site (sometimes with authority links in as well) on the PBN...
Checked positions today and it's just jumped to #1 for it's main global phrase and #2 for its national phrase :D

It's frustrating waiting and doing so much work seemingly for no result... but the results are in AGAIN and not to be sniffed at!
