[ Suggestions ] Giveaway/Freebies needs to be approved by Mods

lately, I came across a lot of giveaways those who do just sake of quick likes or traction and do not deliver as they promised (most of the newbies)
that made me create this thread, I don't know its worth creating or not but would like to hear from other members as well whether they ever came across such giveaways or not....
once someone creating a giveaways thread that thread needs to be reviewed by Mods, or else giveawayer needs to have membership higher than junior member...

what do you guys think?

I think mods already have enough on their plate, adding freebies is the las thing they’ll want. Use some sense while applying especially from newbies, quickly report if they fail easy peasy

They're most likely fishing for clients to take them out of BHW & sell further. Leave them as they are. After all it's a 'free'bie

I am not downloading that much, but, "the biggest" problem I run was and is not updating threads with dead download links.
Can mods do something about it? Nope...
Only thing they can do is to tag a person with message "update your link", etc.
Anyway, if a person is not active that thread is most likely dead.
They can lock that thread, maybe delete it, but in general they can't do much about it.

And about... Just "older" members can add to freebies, I don't think that is fair tbh...
Lots of newbies have added some pretty cool stuff out there, yes the problem are dead links but mods/we can't do nothing about it.

I have two cases already, where I have written a Guest post and I have sent that to the guy.
But he hasn't posted it never and it's not replying back.

it's possible, that that they are just taking free content and etc.
But let see... I will try to keep in touch with them.

The Freebie guy should have at least 100 comments or something like that, hard to configure that I think.

It's often easier to action against a member in these types of threads than it is say in a SL.

So options are;

1) Staff need to manually approve the Freebie/Giveaway thread, the same as we do with Beta Testings ( as an example ).

2) There needs to be a requirement such as 60 days and 60 posts to be able to open one of these threads.

3) These threads are like HAF/WTB threads where the OP can post once as the initial post and cannot post again. This gets rid of the new guy posting the thread then making 90 replies of ' Sent check PM ' etc

My own personal preference in order is: 3, 1 then 2.

I think the 2nd+3rd option would be fair, but 100+ post and 60day old in the forum and OP can not reply to bump it (as WTB/HAF thread). that won't load the works to Mods as well

I remember the freebie one asked me Reddit credential and he did not reply, account got shadowbanned.....it was the worst freebie experience I ever came thru....

we have to sacrifice few freebies to keep BHW clean and seems it's worth.....most of the newbie come and do freebie indicates they were here before and got banned for some reason that's why they know how to get traction quickly.....

you can be sure probably half of the freebie threads opened by newbies are
probably former banned members just looking to fast rep/post there account.
if you see 1, just report it for the mods to take a look

Most freebies are from people who want honest feedback on their newly introduced products/services. There are scammers with ill intentions though, but you spot them pretty easy if you have been around for some time or if you have common sense. Either way, freebies do what they are intended to, which is to attract.

In a freebie once cannot ask for feedback or it stops being free.

The main issues we, as staff, have with freebies is people collecting outside contact info and people getting feedback or a review of their product or service.

it's true that selling other members' personal contact info to marketing agencies is an unprofessional and immoral thing to do, but if the intention of freebies is to give out value without wanting any value back, then maybe staffs can allocate those "freebies" threads into another category (donations maybe?) that properly describe their intentions.

To members who are receiving freebies, just be aware that your information may be collected, so do not give more than you must. Approach every offer with common sense. you would never want to let others on FB know where you are and what you do 24/7. Same thing applies here.

There's times where you will have to Private Message members in order to give them their free information, service, item, etc. They MUST request this within your thread first. At NO POINT are you allowed to direct any member to a website, instant messenger address, email address, form or signature.

Seems like staffs have tight control over members' PMs.

this will add extra pressure on admin/mods.
Best way according to me is that all active member who is taking freebies, if they didnt get delivery as promise in thread then just report that thread.
