Suggestions For Custom Build PC spec?

I am building a custom pc with a budget of £500. It would be to mainly run bots and some multi threaded softwares as well as surf the Internet and general use. Nothing to do with gaming.
Was thinking of 16GB Corsair DDR4 RAM
Intel core i7 6700
And then not to fussed about the motherboard, powersupply etc.
What do you guys think?

Better go for a motherboard that you can upgrade the ram on.
All in all that's a good setup so far, but i don't know if the budget would be enough. Like @makistoj said, the powersupply is very important. I would go for a 600 or 700W supply.

Just to clarify for OP, you're referring to the brand/gold certified, right? And NOT the amount of watts?

Just saying because for a computer like that you don't need much watts for the power supply. Especially when he could get away without getting a video card (and just using a MB with onboard video).
 
You won't get an i7 into that budget. A decent one is like £250

You really think so? I have a top of the line PC
and I only got 650W power supply. Same processor and its overclocked, top of the line video card, and MB. Plus I'm running like 4 hard drives.

I think you only really need more than 650 if you are running two video cards at the same time. The video cards seem to take up most of the wattage. OP doesnt even plan on using any video card so I would think he could get away with less wattage.
 
Get a decent processor if you are running things like scrapebox and doing intensive tasks - look on cpubenchmark.net and get the best rated processor you can afford. For reasonably high end you want something rated 6000+

Dont worry too much about the other components but of course if you go cheap then they are likely not to last as long. Wherever possible if you can afford it then look for components that have 3 year warrenty - for obvious reasons.

Also lastly, get an SSD - it doesnt matter if you have cheapest CPU, small amount of RAM etc. If you put an SSD in it will run 10 times as fast every time because HDD is ALWAYS weak point in PC.
 
If no graphic card you can go with a 400+ watt modular with certification 80+ no need more, for the motherboard asus or MSI are good brand, be sure it will be compatible with your DDR4 and will manage all the MHz probably 2133 but also it can go up to 4266 MHz.

EDIT: Gigabyte is a great brand too for the motherboard

Although he may not need the wattage right now, if later on he decides he wants to upgrade his computer, he may need more wattage
 
If your purposes are bots and other softwares I would get a nice upgradeable motherboard, a quad core i7 or i5 of your choice depending on your budget. At least 16gb of ram, a 500 watt psu, cheapo case to keep costs down, and for storage a decent sized ssd
 
When buying a power supply never go lower than 80 plus gold or those 90% efficiency types. Trust Dotsya when it comes to this stuff. Before you know it your power supply will begin to wane and your CPU will start overheating more and more. Then the dust in your tower chassis will begin getting in the way of your GPU and motherboard. you will eventually ask yourself, "Was it worth it?" when your computer slows to a crawl and you are left wishing that you were a console gamer.

That last part is an inside joke that gamers would understand.~

I go for good PSU according to toms hardware tier list
Case is dustproof and best for this imo + got plenty of ventilation and nice looking
The CPU got hyper-threading and integrated video card + its new
The ram is cheap and CAS14 while most ddr4 2133 are cas15
The MB is perfect for this but limits u for hard future upgrade (it supports up to 32gb ram but not more and the LGA is 1151 - which is new). However you can still go for better cpu + 32 gb ram in the future and still put a nice GPU on it. Also got vedeo card depending on the CPU which yours will have.

You can put few more dollars into 2 more fans for the case. Get a monitor/mouse/kb if u want and still wont hit 620$
 
Get a Seasonic or Corsair power supply.
 
CPU: i3-6100 - cheapest hyper-threading option with integrated GPU + cooler
RAM: 2x8 GB DDR4 2133 CAS14 (not 15)
SSD: Any 240+ GB under 80$
PSU: EVGA 500B or any Gold+ certified EVGA PSU (they are tier 1)
MB: Any that has integrated GPU or depending on CPU, supports ddr4 2133+, 16+ GB, 2+ slots, with LGA 1151 (newest)
CASE: Any that has good ventilation and dust filters

All these will be probably under 450$
 
RAM, RAM, RAM if you want to run bots, at least 16 but preferably more
