if they are not breaking rules and laws, why would they care about ID & bank account verification?

if you are making money, shouldn't you verify who you are and give a sense of security to your buyers. when was the last time you heard a story that a buyer got cheated on ebay and ebay did not step in and make it right and nuked the seller?
I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I'm just bringing another perspective.

It's kind of short-sighted no? Very few marketplace threads are breaking any rules or laws, But that doesn't mean they aren't targets of hostile businesses and overzealous legal teams.

Fiverr and Upwork do this? Why not BHW? Not short sighted, I don't have any issue at all providing ID. I'm from the UK so I'm most vulnerable to get targeted by UK authorities, and I don't have any worries at all with it..

You all seem to think my perspective nullifies the whole idea of providing an ID. This is not the case. It's just a side effect that one has to think about when implementing the system.

Edit: Too clarify, I'm not arguing for or against.

calling @Diamond Damien to white courtesy phone. would appreciate your thoughts on this.

if such verification system gets implemented, I will be the first in line to verify myself and my bank account, even though I am not a seller.

I'd be for it personally, especially after seeing how many are voting no without debating. That's extremely concerning.

Lots of people here don't have ID's or don't exist in the normal sense of the term. I'm sure a few of them would vote no without debate.

To be fair you can't make a claim like that based on nothing as part of the debate. People don't have an issue doing it on fiverr or upwork. The model works, it's a proven model.

Well, you might be right, I can't speak for others. I do not have an ID though. So I can speak for myself.

But if you had a successful service, you would order one right to verify?

if you are legit, why wouldn't you want to get verified? what are you hiding?
I don't get why people are voting no?
I don't have any issues with it at all.
if sellers are not breaking the rules, then why should they care? ebay has everything on their sellers. has that stopped their business?
It's not always about hiding, I just don't feel it safe to share my ID details.
I avoid sharing it on most websites, unless it's something like Paypal which I can't avoid.
Do you guarantee it will be safe to share your Id online?

Considering BHW comply with UK regulations, which I know are pretty tight because I'm from the UK, then yes I feel perfectly safe.

I don't sell anything here but I think this is a great idea.

How can you not have an ID? Do you have a drivers license, passport or any other official document that proves your identity?

That's your opinion I am not from UK and even if I was I would still avoid it.
Unless there's a solid guarantee that my data is safe.

I get what you are saying and trying to make the marketplace safer but it would be worked around.

Would the owner of this thread have to submit ID?
