[Suggestion] BAN Reason in Signature?

Hi,
instead 'this member is banned' in signature of the banned members, could be the reason why they're banned could be helpful to other members. wondering why their may be favorite member is banned!
like signature text could be 'this member is banned for scamming, selling' or spamming etc. etc. :p

I think this will be a headaches for mod as too many bans per day.
 
How about a moderator providing a message when he bans someone (I am sure there's something like that already.. don't want to test it though lol)? That message could then be shown in the signature. Good suggestion IMO.

It would be good if they would post the rule which the user broke but I guess they will not.. and we will never know.. sucks

That's a little closer to reasonable there I would think. Listing the rule the person violated gives a little information, but it's also general enough that you're not arguing semantics. Personally, I don't really care if/why someone got banned, usually there's a good enough reason behind, but I do think if the ban is derived from The Shit List, or some other scamming accusation, it could be extremely useful to make a note of that on those bans. The rest of it would really just be extra stuff to gossip about honestly, but warning people about scammers is never a bad thing in my book.

Define favourite member lol. This forum is not about members' popularity, it's about IM and if you did something that deserved to be ban, you will be banned. Simple as that.
 
Easy way to not worry about getting banned is to just follow the rules. If someone is unable, why concern yourself? Just realize they can't follow some simple common sense rules and move on.
 
Thank would be very good for people checking members on other forums to find the reason they were banned on BHW and avoiding them.
For example Matt_Cutts <--- Banned for bullshiting BHW with false SEO propaganda.
 
The mods should change the ban procedure. Maybe some seller is banned for let say racist comments but her/his service is excellent.

But you will still put a note in there signature to not use the service and the ban does have nothing to do with there quality of service and it can be damaging for theirs business.

The issue is more when a banned member is giving some seemingly good advice that they might have had ulterior motives for giving and having their reason for ban in signature will let readers make a better decision on whether to follow their advice.
 
good idea for the users, but i don't think it will happen - reason for ban is not something mods would want to share with users - the only thing I can see it doing is causing arguments.
 
As per the TOS banned reasons are not provided, but the person getting banned is surely informed the reason by the MOD, banning is something that comes after infraction. Infraction is warnings given by the site admin or Mods, do not adhere to the infractions and you get banned

There are two kind of ban though... Permanent banned, Temporary ban
In case of temporary ban - the ban would be lifted after a specific time period as set by the mod or site admin, you can contact the support team with proofs if the ban was given by mistake (a seldom and rare chance)
 
no benefit because he got perma-banned, would better if it is for an active member.

mods list any negative attitude or infraction in his signature. so, people more aware when running a business with that guy.
 
Overall, I think it is a good idea. It would provide more work for the mods I am sure, but it will prevent people from getting scammed by banned users old threads or knowledgeable posts (not sales threads). On the other side, it's not the business of the other members why a person was banned unless they were directly involved. But maybe have the reason in the signature just for users who scammed other users or were involved in a shitlist thread?

I'm sorry but a rule that says that you are not allowed to question is something that needs to be changed.

In the history of the world, how many times has this been a good idea? The users of this forum is what provides value, and a closed "ask no questions" policy is not in our (users of the forum) best interest.

Ah yes if the world was just that simple. No offense BTB, but you've been here long enough to know members have been banned for violating "unwritten" rules while following all the published rules. I know a couple of these members personally.

I don't expect the rule to change and frankly it's probably best if it didn't. I could see the lounge filling with debates about a member's ban and I don't think that benefits anyone. There are plenty of distractions and nonsense on this forum already. Sifting the wheat from the chaff is almost more effort than it's worth on BHW today. Any suggestion to dump some of the chaff is met with great resistance by members that have no intention of learning a damn thing from this forum. This is their Social media platform where they spend their days republishing the obvious and tossing wisecracks at the ignorant and foolish.

With that being said, the way to know why your favorite member has been tossed is to simply get to know them while they're active. Join their blogs, facebook, linkedin or Skype groups. Get to know them on a more personal level away from BHW. You might be amazed both good and bad about what you discover when to get to know some of these guys. Then if your favorite member is suddenly banned on BHW you'll know at least one side of the story.
 
Most of time members get banned because their comments sound rude to members. They should know that most people are not native English speakers, so they don't know how to express rudeness or politeness.
