Suggested Videos On YT

I'm wondering if anyone has cracked this nut and I'm just not aware of it...

Is there any way to influence the Suggested Videos on YT (in case I'm not being clear - the vids that appear to the right of our videos on the play page).

Especially when using free view enhancers, inevitably the Suggested Videos always become whatever else is in rotation with your vid. So, unfortunately, your video about playing Blackjack might have Suggested Videos for weight loss supplements, free porn, etc. (whatever else happens to be in rotation with your vid on the free view enhancer software).

I'd like to see the Blackjack video actually have related videos as suggestions - or, better yet, more of MY videos.

Can this be done by using the "&feature=related" tag in some way when putting videos in rotation? Or "feature=relmfu"?

Hmmmm....nobody? I did some checking and it appears that the few times this topic has been brought up on the boards, there was very little response. So, I suppose this might be a YT mystery. Bumping this thread, though...just to make sure we didn't miss anybody.

I believe theknown is working on this as part of his SYV program, so perhaps this will be a feature that we can utilize with him in the future. In the interim, I'm going to do some testing with a few things (generally iMacro scripts with proxies) just to see if I can manipulate this in some way. Once again, though...post if you have some ideas on the matter.

vagex has a feature that allows you to choose the keyword when searched. This could influence the side vids too.

Yep. I've used that but it doesn't seem to help much. It does influence the default 'guess' by YT in the search bar, if that makes any sense. So, if I used "Starships by Nicki Minaj Uncensored Version" as my keyword, when someone types "Starships by Nicki Minaj" the "Uncensored Version" part of the search guess will be an option as they type.

I does seem to also have an impact on where your video will appear in the search result for that query on YT.

But...that's not quite what I'm looking for.

So...no, I have still not discovered the 'trick'.

One thing I have found, however, is that by using theknown's "SYV" program, I appear to be influencing the suggested video algo. I believe that this is because the service presently just does not have that many users online at once.

So, if I place all of my related videos in that program (and no unrelated videos that I might own) - the user account viewing my videos will likely watch all of these in succession. That seems to have a distinct impact - and this is another reason why I heartily endorse this program; and why, also, for the moment, I'm kinda content with it not having a ton of users. lol. But, seriously - use it...it's great and we DO need more users.

Ok, I was trying this. I made a list of videos I wanted to be related. I have used all the descriptions in mine, I have made combination of all their keywords in the titles in one title for my video. I have added the tags of all those videos, since related a lot of them are duplicate. So far in my test the video is up for a month and it got 315 views and 1 like. I am still not able to see any statistic for the video, but hopefully soon it will show some more data from where the visits are coming.

I too have been trying to figure out how the suggested algorithm works and have had no success. I'm looking forward to The Unknowns bot having the capability to send a traffics source for a particular video. I really hope that works.

Try adding a unique keyword to each of your videos. So if you channel's name is MinajVids, make "MinajVids" a keyword in all your videos.

I think I see where you're going with this...but I think YT does this automatically based on your username. I do see some videos from the same channel popping up in the suggested vids (especially when the video is new). The problem is, over time, and primarily when using Vagex or u2bviews, the suggested videos become those that are in rotation with your botted videos on those programs (since the "viewer" watches yours and then is immediately switched to the next vid on the playlist, YT assumes that the videos are similar).

If you just leave the videos alone and let them grow organically, of course, this problem does not occur.

I tried submitting the videos with the "&feature=related" tag as I opined in the original post but, as suspected, this didn't do anything. In fact, I think it hurt because it indicated that whatever was watched before my vid was, in fact, related. So, no dice on that.

theknown's store is now open for SYV but, unfortunately, his view ratio for non-mobile views is, by his own admission, terrible right now. So, I'm pretty certain that whatever his method might be is the way to go. But, with all due respect for him and this awesome program, I'm not going Gold until that ratio picks up.

So, any more thoughts on the topic would be appreciated! Thanks for the brainstorming so far.

A while ago I saw videos from shitty gaming channels get in the suggested videos of popular youtuber's videos. They did it by putting the other videos title in the description 1x-4x. Some did it in guise of linking to interesting videos worth watching, others didn't bother with the link. It also got those videos in their suggested list. Each of their videos had the titles of 10+ other videos in the description and it worked for all of them.

I don't know when or what youtube changed, but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. Maybe descriptions are ignored now or stuff further up in the description or first X number of characters matter. Still worth poking around though.

I'd assume copying tags from other videos will be more heavily weighted for the search engine and suggested side now that they hid the tags from public view.

I think you're right. And it sucks that YT did that (hid the tags) - but, in a way, it does allow us to test a few things without the viewers being any the wiser.

tags are still available through the api. It will just keep the noobs away, allowing us to take advantage of it.

They still show tags in the API [for now] so I guess you could try out ripping tags from videos and seeing if it helps.

Just an update on this thread, I've tried adjusting the tags throughout one particular channel. In this case, I used one relatively obscure tag on every video (I have over 20 on the channel). I just used something random but still related to the channel. For testing purposes, I selected "Clive Barker" (the awesome horror writer). I wanted to see if vids relating to him would suddenly appear in the suggested video.

It's been about a week and, so far, nothing.

I'm going to leave this tag in place for a while and see what happens (it's not hurting anything, obviously). I didn't mention Mr. Barker in the description or the title on purpose. For one, the videos have nothing to do with him and, for this experiment, I'm just trying to see what impact tags actually have on the suggestions (if anything). Again, though, it is worth noting that this particular channel does tie in to the horror genre - so it's not a complete stretch to imagine seeing him in the suggested videos. Hell, it's less of a stretch than some of the nonsense I have in there presently thanks to Vagex and the like! lol.

I also checked to see on Clive Barker's vids to see if my vids were suggested in any way - a long shot, I know...but worth checking. As expected, nothing.

It has only been a week. I'll give it a little more time and see what happens and report back. As always any thoughts are welcome.

Well, I'm going to call this "method" a bust (using tags to manipulate the suggested videos). I'm going to leave them in place and see what happens in about a month but I think that, in and of itself, this concept won't influence the videos.

I suspect that the best way to do this is to create a bot that consistently views the videos you want your video to "relate" to and then immediately view yours then off to another vid that you want to have related to yours, etc. Perhaps coupling this with the tags will get the desired result.

I'm not one for making bots, however. If someone wants to code it, though, I'd be happy to use one of my channels as the guinea pig.

theknown's "Share YouTube Views" software does this. Although I'm not sure how it exactly works as it's proprietary information, of course. But I'm guessing that this is how he does this.

Unfortunately, with his current system his non-mobile view ratio is roughly 50 views per 1,000 credits. This is the only way to utilize the "custom related video" option with a Gold membership. As much as I am a huge proponent of his work (and I recommend that everyone utilize his program - it's one of the best out there), that view ratio is tough to swallow considering how many videos I would like to do this with. I am presently in the process of trying to gain a metric shit-ton of credits on his service before going Gold and trying this out.

I suspect, though, for the time being that this is the only way to go short of coding an independent bot. If anyone has any ideas or would like to JV on something like this, let me know. I think it would be a very helpful service and a wonderful way to give back to the YT community here on BHW. As I said, I can't bring much to the programming end of things but I have numerous accounts that I'll risk bans for testing purposes if need be.

I'm really pretty surprised that Vagex and u2bviews aren't offering this service as well. Unless theknown and sPk are the only ones to have figured this out?

This is right.


If you make your keyword different every time you add your video into the system, you WILL see a difference. If you make your keyword different but relevant and get it as much exposure as you can afford credit wise, your video will be suggested to a lot of other videos with that keyword in the title.

It also helps to have that keyword in your description already.

Basically what Vagex does, is it searches for your video link in the Youtube search box with your chosen keyword alongside it. This way the viewer " Searches " for your video every time it watches you, instead of just going to the direct link. This means you are being found in a more natural manner with the words of your choice.
