I was wondering the exact same thing and stumbled upon this thread. I would like to expand on the question the OP asked. Do you think Magento is the best script for eCommerce sites? What do you think about Wordpress (not much to think about but there are some decent themes) and OpenCart? Once again could you suggest some themes that have worked well for you in the past?

Which shopping cart/ecommerce solution you use depends entirely on your requirements. There is never a "one size fits all" solution. You need to look at the basic functionality of the software, and also the ease of use, additional modules you can use to expand the store and also inventory import/export, ordering processes etc.

Theres lots of threads about this in the past. My personal preference is Magento just due to the sheer functionality the platform offers - however this also has downfalls, it can be complex for newer ecommerce users and is very resource hungry. It's best to review each solution to find the best one which suits your store/your working and your business model.

Fortis is a good theme, I have it running at the moment. Currently, it isn't Responsive, but it is part of their roadmap to include hopefully some point this year. This isn't a big problem, as most modern devices can load websites pretty well now, however it is something to consider if you believe alot of mobile device users will access your site (which is a rapid growing trend for most sites).
