For most markets traffic increase right after Christmas, if you've been around long enough you can look up your historical data to see if that's the case. Mine usually increases by 30%-40%. This year is exceptionally good, Friday 100% increase in traffic compared to previous Friday, and today(Saturday) 90% increase. Couldn't ask for better after Christmas gift
Another explanation might be that your ranking for longtail keywords that you don't track has improved.

Last seven days only 50 visitors per day. Today in the morning i have some traffic peaks like "before the update". It is now in germany 8.45 AM at this time the visitor count from yesterday is already broken. (now 52 unique visitors).
But the bounce rate is 80%. Before the update i have got a bounce rate of 39%. There is something ongoing.

90% sure that is just the rise in traffic after Christmas. See it every year on most of my websites, and it's usually around 40%.

Traffic was up a bit yesterday, but might be because of xmas time or because it was sunday. No idea. What I can see from tracking 200 keywords for around 30 different websites is that there is still a big "google dance" going on.

I am really wondering if this update is not related to website design... Or monetisation type. For my part, 2 websites had sudden 2/3 drop of traffic on the 17th december.... no recovery so far

- the same wordpress theme, really minimalist
- no logo
- Are monetized with amazon affiliate: but all link were encode in 64base exept those in sidebar which are nofollow.
- Basically "best of ...." page site
- No RGPD
- Tech niche
- Based on expired domain (not fully relevent to actual niche)

Where did you get your data from? Amazon gained 65 million more search traffic in Nov and 31 million in Dec.

Yes, but you should compare an ecommerce giant like Amazon on Q4. Its normal their traffic skyrocket in November and December. End of Januar and February you'll see a huge decrease again

That's why I'm asking, because we're looking at the same source and I'm seeing gains, not losses. I was like asking, are you sure you got that from Semrush?
