As someone who conducts business mostly in person what are some of the best ways to reach out to bloggers? Short of paying a nominal "submission fee' what is the best way to approach them?

Some blogs will write you with just an amount of money , but the good ones you need to become famous enough or meet the right persons :)

    Blakk01,

I have had success just emailing bloggers. Unless I'm contacting someone that I have a casual business relationship with, an email typically does the trick. If you know for a fact they are very active on a particular social network, you could also try that avenue. In general you just want to use whatever channel they appear to be most accessible in. For instance some bloggers may not respond to email a lot whereas they are extremely responsive on a social network.

    Hope that helps,

    Shawn

It's all about a) your approach and b) what value you can bring to the table.

Imagine yourself as a busy, popular blogger.

What would make you respond? Maybe they have a piece of content that's out of date that you could spruce up. Or maybe they have a diagram on their site that needs an update.

If you can provide VALUE without asking for anything in return then you should have some success. It's a number's game: the more bloggers you can bring value to, the more responses you'll get.

I've just recently started doing outreach and I do it mostly through email. It's a routine, but it usually pays off.

It can be individual. I think you don't want to contact any blogger but you need someone who'll do the best exactly to your website. My suggestion is to look through social networks, blogger's sites, find the group of the best you want and contact to them. I agree that through their pages at the networks it can be more easy to do.
