I decided to try out 7878's method and sent out 9 letters.

I spent:
$1.50 on 40 envelopes
$2.00 on 10 dice, shitty dice btw.
$14.00 on 36 nice, smaller dice.
$2.07 x 4 for mailing the envelopes with shitty dice.
$1.61 x 5 for mailing the envelopes with nice, smaller dice.
---------------------
Total Spent $33.83

Out of the 9 letters sent, 1 was sent back to me, and today I got my first call back from the biggest client I went after. It's a corporation with 8 franchises. I let the call go to voicemail and I'm gonna call tomorrow but I'm a bit nervous. I'll post what happens after the call.

Was the call after business hours? If not letting it go to Voicemail was a mistake but you can fix it.

It's what everyone has suggested, so that I can better prepare myself.

You should have been prepared before you even sent out the letter, just my opinion but I have done direct mail and cold calling for years, you never want a hot lead to go cold.
But you can tell the client you were out of the office or my favorite "Out of town at a conference"

I was actually on a road trip to Oklahoma to pick up a friend who quit his job.

Sounds like a Conference in OKC to me, and you wanted to call them back when you were back to your desk where all your tools would be at your disposal.

I just got through with the call, and the guy was a jackass. He laughed in my face before hanging up. I explained the system but he couldn't understand the value in it at all. He just kept going on and on about how he can picture the people posting bad reviews and that drowning them out makes no sense.

Sorry to hear that but don't let that get into you in fact if you sent out 9 letters and one called back that is success right there as you are testing on a really slow scale. Try sending out 1k letters adn you should get 100 calls and if you can close 20 of them then you are set for a great biz.

I don't care what 7878 does, although he's doing a great job, but don't you feel yourself a bit weird sending out dices?
Like the potential client opens your letter, sees the dice and thinks of you as professional but a bit weirdo and then calls you to meet up. He maybe won't question you about it but he'll still have in mind about why the heck you sent a dice.

This just means to send out more letters. Don't let one guy make you feel down in the dumps

Hey man thats rough. Keep taking action though. I've been attempting to acquire clients as well more through face to face meetings. I was unsuccessful for my first 2-3 tries but this last one bought in and said bring her a custom package and that she is willing to spend a little money.

Keep pushing man.

You need someone to answer the call if you are nervous, maybe your friends or relative that you know can talk like a salesman or have some telemarketer skills. You might lose your customer if you can't talk professional to him/her. That's huge potential customer with 8 franchises! Good luck bro! :)
