Is it okay to submit your site to different directories or would that hit ur google ranking?
 
Depends why you are doing it really and what your existing link profile looks like.

I'd say if they are decent directories then it's reasonably safe. Don't expect big gains though. Diversity = safety.
 
Suer you can do that but you would also have to submit a 2007 calendar with the listing.

Are these not good for local citations any longer?
I am assuming that the reason he is asking this question isn't for the backlinks but maybe for the NAP Citation?

If this is the case, are baby directories in local NAP citations?

I have a law blog, directory that gets random sign ups every month 2-5 per month.

Soley for the directory listing.
 
According to me directory submission does not work nowadays.

I used to own a directory site... made a bit of cash from it from paid submissions and advertising and I shut it down in 2013/2014 as it was just stealing because the value was less than insignificant.

Great to here. I have submitted links to many directory submission site. But it take long three months. U can brainstrom new ideas
