StumbleUpon PPC

There is a thread floating around about the opportunities in StumbleUpon in PPC. The OP discussed his methods some and talked about his success and since I have a mental issue, in that I like to test everything I possibly can that could generate revenue online, I gave it a run.

*Disclaimer - I am certainly no PPC guru (not a guru of any kind actually) so your mileage may differ.
*Disclaimer #2 - I only tested with 200.00 USD and over a couple of days.
*Disclaimer #3 - I only used 2 different sites with 2 different landers and each site had only one offer each.

I got traffic for sure... and it bounced like the check of a poor man trying to buy a high end piece of property on 5th avenue in New York City.

Zero revenue from the traffic and if they stayed on the site longer than 5 or 6 seconds that was unusual. I did give it a try and if I thought that there was some opportunity there for my niches (Business and Finance) I would tune, tweak and adjust some and see if I could do a little better but I think that the combination of:

• Non StumbleUpon friendly niche
• Lack of PPC knowledge on my part
• Standard StumbleUpon travelers

gave me poor results.

It may be a good method just not for me. I'm not calling out the person that made that post, I'm just sharing my results.

I probably won't be going back to fine tune and test more as I know I can spend that money on Adwords and do much better as I do have some successful Adwords campaigns running.

StumbleUpon rejected my ads yesterday (all quite white hat) - not going to mess up with them anymore.

That was my guess when reading the other thread. Stumble upon traffic shouldn't convert because it's users are bored people in surfing mode not in buying mode by any mean. The fact also that the OP claimed some members tried the method and made high ROI was never easy on me as not a single member posted about that in the thread (at least when I last read it).

Thanks for sharing your findings, was pretty certain the guy in the other thread was talking nonsense.
Obviously, results can vary but his offers were CB/Peerfly and he didn't target the traffic in any way yet he claimed success from his first campaign.
Freaking glad there are people like you here who are willing to spend their money testing so others don't have to lose it by following some clown.

I never used Stumbleupon PPC but my guess is that it can work if you find the right niche or the right combo of elements like an eye catching title, a very intriguing first paragraph and something that is easy to digest because the users are, like Scripteen rightly said, "are bored people in surfing mode". Maybe a first page submit CPA offer can do the trick....
I don't know if this can work or not, this are just my thoughts.

Thanks for testing this out for us! I am just starting to get my feet wet with PPC and I was following the other thread. I am thinking about going the FB ads route, but I am finding it hard to get links that they will approve.

I agree, most stumble users are in surfing mode, but I think a good lead generation type offer might be able to have some success.
I might test this as well when I have some free time.

It may work for other verticals but I kind of think that the Stumbleupon crowd is not all that interested in Venture Capital, Market share, mergers and acquisitions or even getting an excellent LLC operating agreement written for them.

Thought you guys might like this video I made a few days ago. Couldn't post it on the OP,since it closed so fast, but since BTB opened this I figure it applies.
If any of you are testing like BTB, let me know, I'd love to continue following this method via Video commentary and hope to find a solid system.

Did you try to restrict by devices? That was going to be what I did to try it out, however I could not get any sites approved...

Stumbleupon traffic is worthless. I pissed away some money when it was released and everyone in here is correct wen they say those users aren't looking to do anything...they are bored (and probably unemployed)

Completely worthless - I would compare it to fake bot traffic that people buy to jack up Alexa rating - that is about all it is worth.

If anyone has/had a good experience with it I would love to hear...because everyone I know that tried it was one and done...and has no plans to ever dabble in it again.

It's an epidemic. I threw $30 at it a few days ago just to see what the "targeted" traffic does. Results were what I expected. I've gotten far better results from re-tumble gigs on fiverr without extras, seriously.

Exactly what I started thinking. Might be ok for getting some seed traffic to a landing page with a viral script.
