What are peoples experiences with advertising on Stumbleupon? How much extra (unpaid) traffic do people receive? Does the unpaid traffic continue indefinitely or does it stop after a while. In other words, is it really "paid discovery" or is it just advertising with a small bump afterwards? Is it better to promote on Stumbleupon organically?

paid is crap. 3 seconds on site with 99% bounce rate, no conversions

Paid ads are a waste of money on stumbleupon. I forget what the minimum amount was, but i know it was gone in minutes.

Organic is better, but you can use the paid ads to increase your page popularity and that will give you more organic traffic later on.

SU ads work good if you want to boost the popularity of your URL. Then you will get organic traffic.

Unpaid traffic is good, but you need to remember two things.

1. Pick Good Categories
2. Buy/Have some friends thumbs up your shit.

You have to send stumbleupon traffic to things like infographics, contests, pretty visuals. A page of text will bounce. I've used SU successfully, but I also paid a shit ton to have a nice infograph made.

you are completely not understanding how to use SU. There is no other way. You have to have attractive content or it won't work.
