What about on-page SEO?
Social signals combined with quality links are good, don't ignore them. Whether you move from page 2 to 1 depends on the quality of your backlinks, not quantity. Some time ago I was stupid and created a lot of low quality links to one of my posts, that eventually got me to page # 2, then I created more posts targeting different keywords, only this time I was focused on quality, and guess what, with less then 10 links combined with social social signals (around 100-150) I got to page #1 in no time. And that first post with low quality links is still on page #2 despite the fact that I had created similar quality links to it. It appears that the low quality links are holding it back. To overcome this, I'm going to have to either disavow the low quality links or create more quality backlinks. The point is, focus on quality and you'll do fine, assuming that your on-page seo is good.I did try social signals in the beginning but to no avail.
I used to do SEO regularly a few years ago but even then I never noticed any positive effect of social signals on SERPs other than to drive traffic. Have you had a different experience?
