Dear All,

I'm in the real estate niche for a particular city and have a website regarding rentals and sales. The main keywords such as 'CITY real estate', 'apartment in CITY', and some others are ranking quite well. I'm actually sharing the top 2 spots for most of the keywords with one of my competitors.

My PR 4, competition has PR 4, our backlinks count is slightly different, both having about 40K +-5 backlinks - I'm actually having some more.

The thing is, although I outrank my competitor on the important keywords, when it comes to inner pages and subkeywords such as 'buiding abc' or 'condo in building abc for rent' he always has TOP spots with his inner pages, I'm mostly on page 3-4.

From my research his backlinks are also linking to his main URL (like mine - actually I do link to inner pages a bit), so he is not pointing them with different keywords to his inner pages.

What could be the reason here? I just got crappy links and no authority links?

For this niche, although for really low comp keywords such as 'building abc for rent' there are only a few searches (5-30) a month, but still, in real estate it means money when it comes to a lead.

What would you suggest?

PS: I just recently noticed a week ago I received some nice 'buy viagra' links to main URL. Of course this might hurt, but the whole thing stays one the same positions for months already so I don't really believe in the negative SEO stuff ...

He might have better onpage seo for his inner urls,
Have you compared that?

This is the most important factor to rank on google

Check your on page optimization, build internal backlinks from your inner pages
Get some social signals from facebook to your inner pages

This will surely works in your niche.

I think you don't have the proper internal links structure. Also lack of meta data on inner pages and lack of "h" tags and "bold" tags.
This is what jass11 stated on his reply:p.
