Hey community , As I have told in one of my previous post. I know Web Design(HTML , CSS , JS and Wordpress). Currently I am struggling with getting started to make money out of it. I don't know anyone , I don't have any portfolio or anything, except my skills. I am really frustrated :(. PLEASE give me some advice on Getting started with clients and become a freelancer . I AM REALLY STUCK.

If you wanna build your portfolio try those non-profit sites I forget their name and build some sites for charity etc.
Edit: just remembered it's called catch a fire. sounds like a porn site but it's a volunteer site:
https://www.catchafire.org/

u can always start with upwork or fiverr.

or showcase your skills here.

PM me your work samples if you are really good at it. Let's see if I can help you with anything. (:

It's very simple, make a Facebook page for your ",company" make it look fancy, fill out the info etc , start the typical free giveaway post. You give away one website (max 5 pages, hosting not incl), to make a chance to win this they have to like your page, like your page and share it to 5 people.

Put a link in that post to your landing page on your website, collect their email so you can select a winner and send future "deals" to.

Drop a couple dollars to boost that fb post, select the right audience and watch the ball go rolling.

You can always start a free giveaway in this forum, to build up your portfolio of WordPress websites, landingpages, or the niche you want to work with. Giveaway 1 or 2 websites to begin with, and see how it goes. State in the giveaway that you have the right to use your work in your portfolio.
But how. This community does not allow free promotions right?
See answer above.

Recently , I tried to promote a free site offer , But unfortunately Facebook blocked my account , for promoting stuff. I can't even recover my account.

How about creating a portfolio? register a domain, let's say webdesign.com, get a hosting package (many offers in the marketplace).

create a website for yourself and then create multiple examples in dirs, like webdesign.com/locksmith, webdesign.com/barber, webdesign.com/ecommerce.

create a facebook page, join webdesign freelancers groups on facebook and promote yourself in anyway (answering people's questions, offer your service when people ask).

get to 100 posts here in bhw, buy jr.vip and start your own bst, try to follow hire a freelancer and offer your service when asked.

good luck mate!

agree, a giveaway here or just for sharing, and showcase whatever your skills and finished product. tell us your journey of doing so

my advice to you is " just start " it doesn't matter where . i think for web developers the way to prove yourself is by creating some projects and host them online. like having a point of reference

That's because you can't win the word free. You need to phrase it like, "a chance to win" something like that but never the word free.

Also there is a difference between running an ad campaign and boosting a post. ;)

lots of methods. search the forum "web design method".
personally i would stay away from upwork & fiver. your competing with 3rd world or ppl who have been building their profile for years
local biz is my favorite

i did JV few years ago with a guy doing something like this. we would pick a niche. for instance trucking dispatch/logistics. design a site/template for it [rip from wordpress pre-made themes]. now hit google and find bunch of biz owners in that niche with a bad site. secret trick was use footprints like "made in godaddy site designer". now modify the template to have their name/logo. put it on your domain. yoursite.com/biz1|biz2|biz3|biz4|biz5 etc. call them up. pitch the site. set up fee + monthly contract for maintenance. you won't sell everyone but for $1000+ per sale you don't need many.

building a portfolio will go fast. set up a home page for yourself. helps your social-proof. you can always start making sites for family/friends. may eventually lead to referrals.

good luck with it. lots of biz owners doing the whole free/wix thing. one of my IT customers is a doctor and made his site on wix. looks really good i cant lie. told me his dr friend paid a local agency $12K for a simple WP site lol. money is still there. lots of ppl cant be bothered to DIY it.

Tottaly agree here! +1

A quick idea, make some good looking website for crypto reffering purposes and post your work at crypto related forums and offer your service. You can change the niche to anything you like or you think more clients are. Examples: Food Blogs, Crafting Blogs, Etsy Showcase Products Website etc etc

You need to build a few sites to show people what you can do.

once you do that getting more work is easy.
