I'm Going to start Work on my client's new Website,

It's basically a Canadian website of educational niche, The reason beyond the posting of this thread is to get a fair idea for
"what strategies and techniques" should I follow to get rank my website for the targetted keyword's in a very short period.
 
Advertise on BHW
get names of local towns, create an inner page for each town with titles like "Education service in town A", "Education service in town B" etc. Create 500 words of high quality relavent content on each page, create backlinks to each inner page rather than root page.....

Something like that maybe
 
Can you be more specific than in Canada and Educational niche? Are they offering local tutor services for example or offering local classes?

2) Create location pages.
3) Pubish locally relevant content.


Local Profile Pages
1) Google+ Local
2) Remove duplicate listings using Google Mapmaker.
3) Develop a system for building customer reviews.
4) Optimize your business categories.
5) Yelp.


Inbound Links and Citations
1) Verify the consistency of your business address across the web.
2) Build these directory citations.
3) Earn local links.

Also use the Yoast local SEO plugin. Hit me up if you need it (free).

Get local seo focused upon as well as directing good quality powerful links like any other website.
 
Create high quality content for each page of your site, create high quality backlinks for these pages, share interesting and knowledgeable posts on social media sites.
 
First off figure out if you have any local keywords to even target. Just because a business is a local business doesn't mean that the keyword they are targeting are local keywords.

If your site is a child care site that offers babysitting, it is in the local set. If by child care you mean a general child health information site, ranking for child care as a local term will do you no good, because you are not a child care provider.

Education fals into this category too. Tutoring and homeschooling are local searches, general educations sites are not necessarily so.

Do the keyword research and see where the traffic is, if you are not going to be targeting local search terms, don't kill yourself with trying for the local algo, go for the organic.
 
I think if you spend around an hour on some local seo posts on BHW, you will get a lot of idea.
