stratefy for minisite

i discovered a keyword which has 12600 global and above 6000 local searches ( for US ) .Competition for keyword is around 150000 without quotes and 22000 with quotes . but without quote the other competitive website in search engine have high PR like 5 or 6 and with quote first five results are PR 4 and 5 . Is it a good strategy to get a perfect .com domain as its available or do you think its too competitive keyword ?

With that kind of competition it would be quite hard to get decent (or any) traffic for that keyword.

Besides, after the 4th June many (me included) experienced penalization in thin sites rankings, so if I were in your shoes, I'd wait to have more info on how the new algo ranks mini sites before putting some of them online.

if .com with the perfect keyword is available then go for it. But it would take 6-8 months for you to rank for it in top 5.
