Stop worrying about Google updates

This whole thread is nonsense.

Every site does not get hit. Some sites decrease in ranking where others increase, some stay the same. Somebody, for every keyword, is rank 1 and getting the majority of the traffic.

It would be pure stupidity to not investigate why some sites went up and why some went down. It's an algorithm, luck is not a factor.

If google re-optimises the algorithm and puts a higher priority on a specific ranking signal and you just ignore it, then you're doing yourself (or your clients) a huge disservice.

Google releases a major update then they give notifications and bring tons of changes that affect bloggers. The Core update effect lots of website and just they lose their traffic.

The google change the Search Engine Algorithm and Google says, we give a chance to new bloggers to get traffics and rank their articles. But if you are always strong in quality article and quality links your traffic wont affect too much.

Your site probably didn't lose traffic because you did something wrong. You were simply unlucky.

This is why you see all sorts of sites losing traffic after an update, this is why it's hard to pinpoint exactly what caused the loss in traffic, this is why a site might gain traffic in one core update and lose traffic in the next one.

wtf? how can people agree with this? "Every site gets hit" ? huh? "you were simply unlucky?"

yes, its a rollercoaster, everything goes up and down, just like the stock market and everything in life. It cannot only go up.

But, its not about lucky or unlucky in the long term. And its far away from "every site gets hit", cmon.

If you continue to do the right thing for a realistic period of time, you will see results, end of story. And following the updates is crucial for the success, they may tell you something and some updates may not. But its not just some random shiet and about luck.

One should just find out the reasons why his site got punished and correct the mistakes. It will recover.

Yes and no.
If you build your websites in a safe way and are diversified, updates will be more pleasant.
But it is still important to stay up to date about how Google is evolving.
For those who are old enough, they will remember Panda or Penguin updates which changed the way of doing seo (no exact anchor anymore).
The last update was a bit special because it wasn't very clear about what it was. And it wasn't a very good update either because they rolled back many positions in June.

Still interesting to see how Google will let rank high authority eCommerce shitty pages in top3. Editorial content had priority for some of those keywords a few years ago. So it is important to see where Google is moving. I had to give up on some keywords because Google suddenly decided they wanted an ecommerce instead of a content website in the top 3.
