Yup, we just need to sit back and let the dust settle.

Blixx,
You're absolutely right. However, its no different than any other update that has happened for the people that "only were white hat". Hell, it was probably the previous update that probably got them to where they were if they truly were not doing anything. You're right about the Negative SEO aspect, but what I am mostly referring to is people who are bitching about the over optimization penalty.

Great tip for everyone as well from you- DONT HAVE ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET! Great point!

Thanks. Just to make clear, I sort of took the whole thread in and commented to the general impression I was left with. The overarching points I found myself wanting to deal with were that 1.) you are absolutely right - whining doesn't do anything; 2.) whining is still understandable, though, for the reasons given; 3.) And this is the point I didn't quite get across: this was an entirely negative update in that it's function was first and foremost to punish sites in spite of the PR From Cutts to the contrary. The best evidence of this being the current search results pushing once utterly obscure sites, parked domains, thin sites, and sites manipulating 301 redirects (etc) to the fore, the common denominator of these sites being minimal backlink profiles relative to their now -500'd competition, in spite of the 'penalized' sites having been higher quality. The net result being the former (shitty) sites being served in Search as higher quality by default... which is retarded, and certainly enough to upset anyone, even those that spammed links and knew D-Day was coming, and ignored that inner voice in spite of knowing.

It would be nice if s3rvice providers here would catch up with the times. I stopped using a lot of s3rvices here because many are still stuck in pre-panda and early panda mode.

Just look and see how many s3rvices only allow 1 or 2 keywords for anchors. Spun content is another issue. People are using such horrible spins. I've been saying for a while that people need to start super spinning articles because the hammer is coming. Even wrote a thread on it in the Jr(Vip section on how to do it.

Improvise, Adapt, Overcome and if that doesn't work just blow sh1t up.

I agree, a lot of people are stuck in the stone-age when it comes to SEO. There are quite a few good s3rvices here to use though, I recently just signed up to partake of a few and rate them accordingly. The better s3rvices are good for sending links to your properly done web 2.0 and article properti3s, and surprisingly there are s3rvices here that are good enough for direct linking. the majority of s3rvices here and on many other forums are not, but you have to sift through the dirt to find the nuggets :)

Sorry about the stupid formatting of my above post, the "moderation" system decided that my OP was spam, so I had to edit out the things that sounded like I was s3llin something... ugh :(

Yup, its all about not relying on the stone age tactics that USED to work. Got to think proactively!

I can't believe some people have the audacity to complain about the loss of their income from this google update. How dare they be so thoughtless and harshen our mellow!

They should be diligent google sheep and start working hard to grow their wool back as fast as possible for the next shearing.

Why don't we create a heavily moderated solutions thread where we can collaborate and share factual information on this update and start moving forward.

Granted, it might be time-consuming for the mods having to constantly delete shitty and useless posts from the thread, but it would be a shame and waste of talent if we, as a community, didn't combine efforts and start moving forward.

I know this is tough for most of you that have been hit by the updates and its an easy excuse to bitch and moan about how "its googles fault" that your rankings have dropped.

Atta boy.

Seen this repeated time and time again over 16 years.
Every time it's frikking "domesday" for some "Oh noes, Google has ripped us off" (though it used to be "Alta Vista" or "Lycos" or "Yahoo")
People going on and on endlessly about the same half a dozen anomalies saying shit like

"This PROVES the search engines are corrupt" or "This PROVES the search engines hate my site" (for various reasons, content,size..whatever)

It proves feck ALL.

Sometimes it was bad luck, but most of the time your site or SEO method is (and I'm sorry to break this to you) SHITE!

By all means rage quit..but please stop trolling your sad assed QQing around here. The rest of us want to get on and earn some money!

BHW is the place to learn most of the time, but since Penguin there's been a dozen or so sad sacks doing nothing but moaning endlessly like spoiled brats offering nothing constructive.
If you can't hack it..by all means please quit SEO. As a community we won't be losing anything other than your constant negative sniping and boring QQ posting, and you might get your sanity back and "nerd rage" under control in the process. Everyone wins eh?

As for the other 99.9% of you BHW's. Don't let these dullards bum you out. Get smart, adapt WORK HARD and make MONEY.

Scritty
