It looks like we’ve got more fun and games to come off the back of a Google update. Chrome 71 launched last week and it’s currently still rolling out. This time, Google are tackling what they consider to be ‘abusive’ advertising. They’re going to be blocking anything that they deem to be “designed to be misleading”, which includes fake messages, click jackers and auto redirects, among other things.
Apparently, Google think this is only going to affect repeat offenders who are going hard with these kind of ads, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. What good ever came from taking Google’s word for it?
What do you guys make of it? Will you be rethinking the way you use advertising on your sites and PBNs?
