Or ‘bro’ :) and start conversation from ‘hello’ instead of ‘yo’ :D

I think that there is some confusion. I will provide some examples that maybe the lusty-sounding folks will learn something from..

GOOD:
Dear Michael,

I am writing you to inform you that your nose is big, and I hope you have a great day.

BAD:
Dear Michael,

I am writing you to inform you that your nose is big, and I hope you have a great day, dear.

BAD:
Dear Michael,

I am writing you dear, to inform you that your nose is big, and I hope you have a great day.



In the last two examples, the problem is where you refer to the actual person as "dear". This is fine if you're a female and the person you're speaking to is a man and is okay with you using this specific term in this specific way. It comes off as flirtatious when this word is used in this context, and unless the man you're speaking with doesn't mind another man flirting with him, he's probably not going to want another man calling him, "dear". Again, it's only in this specific context that it poses an issue for people who may not be so receptive to men calling him, "dear". Starting a piece of text with "Dear ____" is absolutely fine, though a bit formal. Not a big deal. The problem is when you specifically call someone "dear" in place of their name.
