So, Tags are doing the most of the part of video ranking? What if I don't have any subscribers, or my channel is very new. Still mixing those tags from different videos will help me to outrank the competitors video? ...
Just think about it logically. If you're
1.) completely new and nobody is searching for your channel +
2.) you've no subscribers who are getting your newest uploads... what do you think how people should find your videos? Right, through the search engine. And the search results are based on what? Right, your keywords (in your title, description, tag section etc.)
Some people even say that YouTube recognize keywords of:
- The file name of your raw video you upload
- Your thumbnail (file name + written keywords on your thumbnail)
- And since YouTube is able to transcript videos, some people say that they even recognize keywords of what you're saying in a video
Because the YouTube algorithm is secret there are lots of speculations.
Some positions of keywords are more relevant that than others. For example: The the keywords of your title, description and tags have the most relevance.
But to have keywords everywhere is not a guarantee that your videos getting ranked in the search results, especially not if you copy and paste the keywords of your competitors blindly. It's all about the ratio between the offer (amount of videos by competitors) and the demand (amount of searches) of specific keywords.
So if a competitor is ranking well with the keyword "diet", it's absolutely impossible for you as a beginner to get ranked well under this keyword. You have to go more nichy, eg. "low carb diet". But even this keyword should be too competitive, so you have to go more nichy again, eg. "low carb diet for women over 40" (just an stupid example).
The more deeper you go with your keywords, the less demand are for these keywords = You can't expect tons of views. But the amount of competitors videos is also lower, so your video has a realistic chance to get seen. Now if your getting views, your ranking increases but because you've more than one keyword, you'll also rank better under these (maybe more competitive keywords). Because competitive keywords have a higher demand, you'll get more views from these keyword. Your ranking increases for another even more competitive video of your keywords, you'll get more views etc.
That's the raw priciple. It's working like a ladder. It's not just copy and paste!!!
The priciple is the same for every other websites with an search engines. Ranking videos on YouTube is working in the same way as ranking Websites on Google, ranking products on Amazon etc. So I highly recommend to learn this priciple because you have to learn it only 1 time but profit the rest of your life.
I just want to give you a raw idea in which direction you have to go/think and hope that I could help you. At the end it's important to make your own research + experiences to master this principle someday.
